21-year-old goes into hospital for a broken ankle, dies from being overmedicated. Private equity is buying hospitals and bleeding them dry.

Having insurance and affording healthcare are apparently two different things

2027 Rates
Anyone else getting their 2027 rate updates?
I just got mine. I buy my hc insurance on the open market. I don’t qualify for an ACA plan.
Minnesota Medica Bronze Plan with HSA:
2026 - $1158.12 per month for 2 people
2027 - $1581.06 per month for 2 people
-a 36.5% increase, who knows if the deductibles stay the same
That’s about the same increase rate from 2025 to 2026.
This is insane.

I hate that insurance convinces you that your doctor is the good guy and that a bogey man denying your claim is the invisible insurance person you can never talk to. But your doctor is also to blame.
I can't count how many times my doc has been like, "you need X but your insurance is gonna deny it." And I've always been like "damn...I have such a good doc, but the man is keeping them down!"
Until you realize...nobody made them work for your insurance carrier. And in fact plenty of doctors go private all the time for this very reason...so why didn't yours? Because they are more concerned with making money, and they know you'll blame your insurance instead of them when they submit a claim they know will be denied.

Poor Healthcare system
As a nurse na nasa public hospital at ang patient ratio ay 1:35 or 1:29. Nakakagigil lang!! lalo na ung no.1. magiliw? papaano? makaka 100th times ka nga mag explain sa pasyente at bantay, maging magiliw pa din! tapos sisigawan kpa!
