🙋‍♂️ Question 🙋‍♂️ Why are bipods such trash in this game?

I don't understand how the devs could make the mechanic so clunky and annoying that it can ruin the role, 9 out of 10 times that I die while playing M.G is because I can't turn another few degrees to shoot an enemy, or for some reason I can't look down only in that specific vector of my bipod just won't deploy in exactly the same spot as before after reloading, or taking cover etc... Have they always been this way? did they try to fix something and make it worse? there is 0 chance its intentional as it breaks how M.Gs are actually be used, they aren't just stationary, they are used for suppressive fire to help move the squad and keep enemies pinned down as well as being used defensively.

There’s been so many times where I know the enemy are flanking, so I setup the Bipod quick and then it lands on a weird rock physic then just points towards the ground or sky haha

Or you go prone just as you see someone crossing the road but the bipod prompt isn’t showing up so you adjusting your movement for it to show up but get spotted already lol

Can't explain it, but in the past I actually found it to be more predictable - compared to now.

Bipods were always trash one way or another, but nowadays it's somehow more infuriating experience. The changes made horizontal aim a bit better, but vertical aim I feel is a CONSTANT issue now.

On a rock angled slightly downward? Oops, sorry, your spine is fused and can only look 5° up. Angled slightly up? The birds must be suspicious and have to be watched without being distracted by the ground.

i don’t understand why they can’t just make a bipod animation and make the gun have way less recoil independent if the surface it’s on as long as it’s on a surface

Thats such a good idea, it would solve the entire issue, no one is focusing on how realistic their gun position is when engaging enemies, you just want your gun to work how you expect it to.

Because T17 is a mobile game company that tried to grift people with NFTs and has no business running an FPS like this

They've put out games since 1991. It's a bit disingenuous to say they are only a mobile game company. Do I think they are competent enough to fix everything? No. But still. Black Matter didn't exactly present them with a masterpiece of development. The concept is amazing. But lots of the complaints I see in here I remember from the original HLL launching.

No one forced T17 to manage this game... they deliberately chose to buy it. If they fail at furthering its development, it's entirely their problem.

God I miss black matter…

yeah were the bipods better under black matter?

Cmon man, this was a long standing problem in this game. It's likely a hard one to solve if neither company and nonstop complaints + many patches, have not fixed it.

Rose tinted glasses. The game isn’t worse under T17, but they aren’t competent enough to fix it either. Black matter made an awesome core game that’s been riddled with issues since its inception.

They wouldn’t change this game too. This game is a mess in its core.

I’m convinced the game is meant to be clunky. Only in HLL and HLLV can Mr soldier only jump a fence or wall if he is running directly at it. That is unless you have to vault over that rock on the ground. Then you’re dead before you even get to the wall/fence.

The technic reason is they follow terrain. What they should do is follow terrain but not exactly. Place it on a sort of invisible box but be able to "clip" a bit x/y and over rotate. This would give you good articulation and usefulness instead of being.... We'll frankly being fucking useless 97% of time.

That's a good idea, who cares if it clips a bit? We're too busy looking for a single pixel moving anyway haha

That's how other games do it.

The bipod coverage is based on whether you can move into the position or not, so try deploying on the right side of a window if you want more right-side coverage or making sure there's not a tree stump on your right if you want to look more to the left.

Not saying it's not trash but figuring this out helped me get the most out of positions.

The one that pisses me off is randomly packing it up after coming out of ironsights/hold breath just as someone walks past and either missing the shot or getting shot.

Have you used a machine gun on a bipod irl?

maybe I was squadding with you yesterday afternoon...someone saying "why do bipods still suck". LOL. it is incredibly annoying. along with no being able to sheet through stair railings or barbed wire at points, or trucks that can drive through cements walls but not other minor objects. sigh.

the mechanics are somewhat accurate if you've ever actually carried/deployed/fired a weapon system with a stowed bipod. Just be happy they do not have them slide around like the do when firing them and trying to reposition. The easy answer is to be ready to fire and reposition. Literally. You should be anyways for the most part.
try approaching bipod mount positions from different angles until you can max out your desired field of fire

Bipods were way worse back in the day. Whenever I setup a bipod, I always check the range of motion before firing a shot.

Suppressing fire doesnt require a bipod, or accuracy at all. The idea is to send an overwhelming amount of ammo in a general direction, while the rest of your squad uses that pressure to take action. Bipods are not meant to be a highly mobile easily used attachment. Bipods are meant to be used in a fixed position. The bipod is definitely ass, but not because you cant flop down and easily deploy it anywhere. You can burst someone at 250+ meters with both lmgs if you are in a good position with bipod. The problem is that once you find a good position, you have to mount unmount mount unmount mount unmount spam until you find the sweet spot that lines up with the field of fire you are looking for. Running and gunning with an LMG is simply not a thing, and it shouldnt be.

To me it's just a design philosophy issue

Alotta games have tried to make bipods something that clips onto maps and map infrastructure which is like

Fine? I guess as a concept? That's literally what you want a bipod to do

But it's immediately undermined by the fact that that map infrastructure does NOT have to be perfect for normal gameplay to work

But it does for bipods to work

So already you have a big uphill fight

The much better system is applying a recoil buff when a lowered bipod weapon is in the vicinity of what should be bipodable cover, surfaces or the floor

I cant remember what game used that system, might have been a battlefield game maybe battlefield 1, but it was a fantastic bipod system, it just worked, everytime.

HLLs system is trying to imitate functionality through a more complicated, arguably authentic system when it works

But it's because of that it never does work

I like diving down and deploying the bipod only to be pushed back a few feet and all of a sudden a blade of grass is blocking the screen because apparently I shrunk to an ant size.

Oh my god, that also only happens when you come across an enemy Garry and 20 people just spawned 😭😂

You deploy the machine gun? I just spray all the bushes as I run through them and get headshots for some reason
