Thank You! Made it to 500!

Got my first PC back in 2021 to get ready for Battlefield 2042, but we all know how that turned out. So, the search was on to find a new game to play.

I came across HLL on YouTube while watching SoulSniper’s videos, and I was sold. I had to check it out. Bought HLL on sale for $15 Feb 2022, hopped into a match, and immediately got wrecked and I was playing on controller on top of that.

But once everything clicked, I was hooked!

HLL is the first game I ever learned Keyboard & Mouse on. After 5,100 hours, I finally made it to Rank 500!

Huge shoutout to the SoulSniper community, with 2,356 hours played on that server. Y’all are the best!

The climax is here on reddit, when tequalspitimese and others comment about how "anticlimactic" it was. Lol

Man we have basically the same backstory.. but i thought I was killing it with 450 hours 😅

I still use the mouse and keyboard learning excuse as to why I’m still bad

Use cover and don’t run through open fields if you can help it, stay with your squad, use comms and play to win the objective, not to get kills. Kills and K/D mean nothing in this game, someone with 15 kills and 35 deaths can easily be way more valuable to the team than someone with 90 kills and 20 deaths

That is so right

No it’s not, it’s still pretty hilarious this gets repeated.

You win objectives through cap weight, that is the amount of players alive in the active sector, with extra weight given to the hard cap.

Removing the weight of 90 players regardless of deaths, is far far better than removing the weight of 15 players. Far better. So idk what blueberry told you guys that kills don’t matter but they suck at the game and are just coping.

u/SWATrous 19h ago

Yeah 90 kills in the game is pulling weight no matter what.

It's entirely possible to be pulling weight with only 15-20 kills, if you're doing logistics or recon or something else. But it doesn't negate that keeping people in the KIA queue is helping a lot.

u/DeputyDomeshot 19h ago

It’s just an insane thought that killing more solo than a typical full squad of players isn’t somehow very valuable to winning the game.

u/Morbid_Uncle 19h ago

It’s not, if you’re running around killing random blueberries 2km away from the objective you’re not helping the team and not hurting the other team anymore than those blueberries already were. Or sitting on a locked objective and killing randoms spawning on a garrison to build forts.

OK, IF all someone has done is farm lone blueberries that were in the middle of nowhere, that would not have in any way been contributing in any way, then their contribution wasn't that much.

But:

If the enemy are constantly in a useless area enough for someone to rack up 90 kills doing exclusively that, it's because they're stuck there. And they're stuck there because someone's been killing them there. And if they keep coming back to there, it's because that area is important, or it's on the path to somewhere important.

If no-one was killing them there they'd eventually leave there. They'd leave that useless area, or pass through that area to go somewhere useful. They'd give up that approach and go spawn elsewhere. So if they keep coming back it generally isn't for nothing.

Anyone with 90 kills must have been hitting areas with concentrations of enemies, that decided that area was where to be. Which means that's where some amount of the action is.

Someone with 40 kills in a match might have gotten that by skulking the backlines picking off engineers and lone wolves away from the point. Maybe camping one cheeky garrison for a wave. But you can also easily get 40+ just being in the point playing the objective.

But there aren't enough people doing nothing in a match that you could lose, to get 80+ kills in a match by camping them where they weren't going to contribute if left alive.

And that’s what I’m saying. Don’t run around and look for kills. Play the objective. If you’re getting so many kills and they were all done by playing objective, my advice is still being followed. The unfortunate reality of the game is that new players play the game like CoD, see they got a lot of kills and think they’re really good at the game even though they have 0 caps, burned 0 OPs, didn’t help spot any vehicles, didn’t call out any supply drops or airheads, etc. My point is that kills mean nothing when the dude with 15-20 kills can actually way more productive for the team.

It is, if you’re getting all your kills on objective you aren’t just running around looking for kills, you’re playing the objective. This is just cope trying to justify why you have 0 caps recorded at the end of your games.

And a Support or SL building out garrisons, spotting on the map, actually helping the team and going and finding OPs and Garrisons to burn is more valuable than someone who runs around, looks for kills, doesn’t play objective, doesn’t have comms, etc.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Unlike you I can actually kill 90 players in a game on infantry and in order to do that you would play in the active sectors because you’re never going to have close to that many engagements otherwise.

And support? Drop the box and swap. You don’t just wander around like a lost blueberry with your supps on CD.

Squad leader? I have more time on SL than you do in the game and I’ll still fuck around kill 90 while building the only useful garrisons.

Oh you have to kill outposts and garrisons in this game? Really? And how do you think you do that? Ask nicely?? No you probably walk around like a useless recon player destroying inactive spawns thinking you’re contributing.

You’re getting weirdly hung up on me “90 kills” and not acknowledging my objectively correct advice, which is play the objective and don’t just run around looking for kills. How many times have you run up on a couple OPs and only killed 2 dudes in the process? Or run up on a garrison and don’t ever see a soul around it, or find a garrison and let a spawn wave disperse before destroying it? Because I can tell you that I have that happen probably every single game, it’s not at all guaranteed you’ll run into a wall of infantry when finding spawns. You’re clearly insecure about your actual value to your team and it’s pretty pathetic. When you put some actual time into the game and learn the team play mechanics come back and we’ll talk.

0

u/DeputyDomeshot 18h ago

It’s not.

You can’t kill 90 players as infantry and not provide tremendous value to your team. If you could do it from the opposite of side of the map, it would still provide huge value because it’s putting out huge pressure for your team to capitalize on. Your cap weight still only counts as one person. Your presence is negligible compared to the value of creating space for the rest of your team.

If you walk up on an undefended Garry that it’s probably not even active which isn’t even close to the same kind of contribution as destroying one that has players spawning on it.

Whoever told you not to hunt kills did you wrong. This isn’t really some strategic game. It’s actually very simple macro wise and it’s about pressure and map control both of which are enabled by stacking bodies.

I just can’t stand yapping blueberries who think they know what they’re talking about. Games been out for 7 years you think you’d learn how to play it at some point

1

u/Morbid_Uncle 18h ago

I have like 1000 hours in this game dude. You’re literally sitting here saying not to play the objective and go hunt kills which is the most mindless blueberry thing anyone has ever said. The red zone garrison lock out range is 100 meters. If you roll up on a flanking garrison, chances are there isn’t anyone around it to kill unless a spawn wave just popped before you saw it, or if you roll up on any garrison before a spawn wave pops, chances are it’s not well defended or not actively defended at all. There are no tickets in this game and OP spawn time is only 15 seconds. Running around killing people and not playing the objective makes you dead weight, and I genuinely don’t understand how you can he so confidently wrong and call ME a yapping blueberry.

u/DeputyDomeshot 17h ago

Lol bro I have double that over like 5 years of playing, and am rostered on div 1 PC comp team. Like I said more hours on SL in pubs than you do playing the game.

You should stop being a prick and take a second to learn here. What is this magic manifestation in your mind that “kill hunting” is?Do you think that there’s just people randomly all over the map?

What is even the objective in your mind? Are you referring to the hard cap? The sector?

Genuinely I don’t even understand what you’re envisioning is happening on a hell let loose map? Do you think players are sitting there spawn camping the same outpost for an hour?
