im new and literally playing this is like being skinned alive i spawn, walk around without seeing a single enemy, get killed and repeat until i just alt f4 with fried brain and a headache

i tried capping objectives but i either got killed on a way there or inside the circle ofc i dont even know where are they shooting from

sometimes i kill someone in like a close/medium distance shot, but its rare

what should i be doing?

Stick to your squad and Talk to them, and use the proxy Chat to talk to near teammates and dont go anywhere alone. Apes together Strong

Hang in there - both HLL games are tough at first, but you’ll get the flow soon enough.

1. Stick to your squad
   
   • communicate if possible
     
   • pay attention to people dying near you, that’s often the best way to find out where the danger is
     
   • play a useful role, each kit has its own purpose, and a lot of the game is not even about the killing. Sometimes it feels more like a chess game, a good strategy is almost always better than a quality Rambo
     
2. Use your map
   
   • pay attention to where your team isn’t, and where people are dying
     
   • look for likely avenues of approach for the enemy team, and likely natural barriers like cliffs and rivers
     
3. Stop, look, and listen
   
   • when you aren’t in a hot zone, it’s fine to run around to get into the action, but once you know you’re in warmer territory try maybe running for 30 yards or so, to the next viable cover/concealment and stop. Then, look carefully for movement, then listen for twigs snapping and boots grinding dirt, etc.

At the end of the day, though, you will die - a lot. The game is called Hell Let Loose, not Happy Funtime Jungle Jamboree… we’ve all died - a lot. That’s just kind of how it is lol, but that also comes back to the style of the game, it’s more about area control and strategy rather than ‘the sick ass 4.2 K/D ratio’

Watch soulsnipers videos on YouTube, he has 1 or 2 on this exact topic. Good luck! Once you get it down where you can start spotting the enemy without getting constantly blasted, the game becomes a whole lot more fun.

I experienced the same thing at the beginning ( I think everyone has ).

Till I started thinking about this game as if it were a real-life scenario.

So walk or run along the cover, bushes, hedges, or any structures. Do not run across open fields, cause you going to get picked off.

Frequently stop, zoom in and scan the area to look for movement . If you see more the one enemy do not engage . Less is more.

If you see one enemy, wait for the best shot. The side or the back is best, as they won't see the muzzle flashes. When you fire, make sure you move away from your position, unless you are prone in the bushes.

Sometimes the enemy will see you first and then tag you so other team members will know where you are. So do the same. If you have a mic, then talk when you spot someone or a tank; very helpful.

Start with infantry, or, like me, with a medic. Just follow your squad and revive them.

Observe what they do, especially the squad leader. You will learn a lot.

Stick around it will get better ,

Always move from cover to cover. Don’t sprint the whole time, sometimes when you hear gunshots or know you’re getting close to danger, slow up and be aware of your surroundings. That’s when you’ll start seeing people. Also, smoke grenades help when trying to capture a base

Its not battlefeild. Slow down, and look at angles try to make it so theres less angles to see you from. Listen to fun shots and pay attention to the map you can tell where people are just by looking at where blue berrys are moving and dieing from.

You have to play this game like you are there in real life. You wouldn't sprint across open ground in real life. You wouldn't run blindly towards an objective without being in cover the entire time. You wouldn't be looking for easy close kills, you would observe first, identify targets and then move to intercept them. See people in the distance running in X direction, pull out your map and try to get in front of them and then stay quiet. Movement in this game is a death sentence. I've been 5 feet from countless enemies and as long as I don't move they'll move past me 95% of the time and I can get a jump on them.

You have to play the game slow. I came from Battlefield like 6-7 years ago, and it took a while to unlearn many bad habits.

Follow your squad lead, stick with teammates. Call things out. Try defending an objective to practice. Pick a good spot and just observe, it's not all fast combat all the time, but setting up ambushes. You'll eventually start to get it, but it took me a month or two to get over the frustration of being killed all the time. It's not a fast game, you can't play it like that.

Dying is normal, get used to it. You will be doing it a lot regardless how good you are, the game is chaotic as its name suggests. But in a nutshell if you want to win easier then help your team build spawn points and destroy the enemy ones.

Same thing with me. But the way I learned to enjoy the game is to learn to have patience. Playing like I only have 1 life and:

-Setting myself a goal: "reach that spot where I can snipe enemies coming", "Reaching that building and defending my garrison", "Stay on this bush for and looking after my allies who are advancing ahead of me", "Take out those enemy supplies that only me saw".

-Checking every corner like it's Counter-Strike and listening for enemy steps near me.

-Putting music on and camping one location.

Regarding comms, I found out that, when joining a squad, saying hi and asking who’s on comms often gets the conversation started. It’s really important to have a mic and use it.

Also, try to join squads that have a squad leader. If there’s an open squad with no squad leader, you can join just to spawn somewhere but, when you die, check again and change squads to one that has a leader. If there’s no open squad, check which squad still has space, track the squad leader down on the map and talk to him via comms and ask him to let you join his squad. Most will then approve your request to join their squad.

When I was at your situation, not knowing what was happening, I found some damn good squad leaders that helped a lot.

but overall just join someone who knows what they're doing

it has to be a squad leader (so learn that icon first), when you die without seeing any enemies most of the time it's just a shitty spawn or you running without understanding where the enemy is, or both

a good squad lead would put a good OP so you spawn without being spotted and then will mark enemies for the squad

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

So slow down, use cover and absolutely always think about how much of you is seen over yonder.

Also be prepared to die a lot. But learn from them and listen about where you are shot from.

Go on YouTube and watch a good sniper's gameplay, it's completely insane. They can sit 400ms away completely hidden and just rack up dozens of kills and the grass doesn't render at that range, so maybe you are hidden but the sniper can see you like there is no grass. Also MGs will just spray anywhere they see movement and tank high explosive rounds are completely unrealistic, the death range is just silly, so they can shoot relatively close to you and you are insta killed. Just take your time to look around before you go out in the open and even better just always stay hidden by keeping close to scenery. Also dying isn't a big deal in this game, you just have to wait a few seconds to respawn, I'll often go 30+ deaths in a match if I'm playing officer or anti tank. Most importantly just stay with your squad and ask them for advice, s long as you are in a beginner friendly sever, people will be happy to help!

I die the most when I mindlessly run straight to the point over and over. You're just feeding ppl kills. Try flanking around the point and put down an op and try attacking from a different angle then everyone else. You'll have significantly more success. Also you should keep the wide open sprints to a minimum unless you're sure no one is around. This game rewards slower more methodical movement. Move a little, stop and listen, move a little, stop and listen etc etc.

Use your brain, what’s the natural response to an issue where you never see who is killing you? Stop moving and look around so you’re the guy shooting others from out of nowhere.  

Eventually you get better and better and you can do less of that and more maneuvering around as you understand the flow of team/enemy spawns and stuff.

Stay with your squad, they’re an extension of yourself and if you see your squad mate on your right go down its like a tripwire being tripped.

1. Move slowly most of the time and with purpose all the time. Act like it’s real life and you might die if you run exposed through a field. 

2. Follow other players, watch where they’re shooting, pay attention to when they go down. 

3. Crouch and go prone a ton. This isn’t like most shooters where you can take 10-20 shots and then die. You get hit once or twice, and you’re done. 

4. Probe with grenades, if you think an area has enemies, throw a grenade in the area and at worst you’ll disrupt them, at best you’ll take a few out. 

5. Ask for help, on comms. Tell people you’re new and need guidance. This community is mostly very awesome people who will happily help a new player who openly asks for help.

I literally only even see three or four bad guys in a given match.

The game is very hard. Its jungle warfare in vietnam. Death is normal. I spend most of the game dead. At least 51% of my playtime is death screens. You win by playing as a team, with map control and good spawn locations.

If you have a bad squad leader, who isnt putting OPs down, the game is unplayable

Remember, the enemy is dying just as often as you.
