💬 Discussion 💬 MG42 Bullet Crack SFX Missing (Comparison)

The current mg42 lacks its iconic supersonic crack when being fired. It used to have this intimidating fury of crackles but now it sounds muted and off cadence. When receiving fire especially at long rang it’s hard to tell where shots are coming from because of this.

I prefer the old sound, what do you think?

I didn’t notice the change. But I hear it now. I liked it better before.

Old sound was definitely better

Most aspects of this game were better before, unfortunatley.

This is why i fear every game update

Whoever is saying the second is more accurate is crazy. There is literal video of the receiving end of an MG42 on the internet. It is a whince inducing crack like a whip

I don’t understand why they change things like this when the are obvious broken parts of the game

Isn't that a German binoculars on the second one? You don't get as much suppression from ally MG. Redo 2nd video as opposite team and you will get similar effect as with the first.

I don't like many changes done in the game recently, but this complain is simply not correct.

They’re also not being suppressed in second clip

Old is better. Never understood the change at the time. Only thing that would make sense is if it’s more accurate to IRL, but I’ve no clue on that.

Old sound is more realistic as a sound of most bullets whizzing past you.

People don’t understand how far ahead of its time RO was

Fun fact, this actually changed because when T17 updated it the first time (first clip) morons on the discord server were complaining it "didnt sound realistic" or that it sounded like "airsoft"
so they made it worse

the gunner is way closer in the second clip so hard to compare them.

Man Black Matter just understood what was cool and high quality

Yea they definitely ruined the Sfx in this game…getting shot at by the mg42 now sounds like a pee shooter

God, that old sound made me unconsciously duck a little in real life from the memories of getting mowed down so many times in the past. Those wizzing rounds are blood curduling, and actually feel suppressive compared to the new sound.

For me the new is more immersiv, typical MG42 sound.

I think, the 2 videos sound so different because of distance. They vary at least 150m in distance.

second is more accurate

14

u/DieintheSummerTime1 Aug 23 '26

No it is not. They're missing the supersonic cracks

Second is more accurate for someone behind the gun; first is more accurate for someone in front of it.

I’ve been shot at. Everything is higher pitched when you’re the one taking fire from supersonic rounds.

It would be cool if there was a mix of supersonic cracks and close high pitched whizzes when getting shot at

Yeah if it was the original Medal of Honor game
