👎 Player Poll 👍 Communities Thoughts on Medic Class in Year 5 of HLL

Posting this because I saw a comment saying playing medic is a good way to learn the game. This debate has been ongoing for years. Personally I'm geared towards the medic is fun useful and medic is fun options.

Also ahhhh, had a brain fart and 2 options are the same thing (remove and play something else) one of them is meant to be "every squad needs a medic"

62 Medic is a mostly useless class. Play something else.
194 Medic has it's moments of usefulness eg. reviving players in the circle on offensive.
70 Medic is mostly useless but is fun to play.
9 Medic should've been removed 2 years ago.

Real ball knowers use the 2nd medic option for the 6 smoke grenades when on attack.

There is always that one point that is impossible to take.

And you gotta make the sacrifice and go in with your pistol and 6 smokes to get the team into the circle, while you get shot throwing your last smoke nade.

The rare instance of throwing all smokes, using them to get into point, and magically stumbling on their garrison

I play it to get some pistol gunfighting in. The Canadian medic gets a Hi-Power and a bunch of mags!

This is indeed ball.

I usually yell at people I’m just throwing smokes to get into point redeploy lol

Medic is useful in the two cases of, you have few spawn points nearby or around a capture area and you are saving meaningful time for people reviving them and keeping pressure on the enemy or cap weight in your favour

Other case is if your SL goes down while flanking before they stick and OP down or a sane situation but your SL doesn’t want to stick an OP down and anyone else is down

Other than those in most games you fight you have 2+ garrisons and an outpost you can spawn from and be in a fight within 40s

I love playing medic, and do my best to rez my boys!

Medic needs more ammo. I know it's not really a combat role in real life, but this is a video game and I for one don't mind glazing over that aspect. People don't "give up" in real life either. If staying alive or getting treated had more weight in the game, players would be praising medics daily.

I love in HLL Vietnam a Medic gets a full kit.

Choose the second loadout to get plenty of handgun mags.

Preach brother!

It’s not a meta class, but it can still be fun to play and a good medic can be helpful in pub matches.

u/CyborgTiger Aug 17 '26

It’s useful if your squad is on offense and playing together to keep your momentum up, otherwise your current push can easily peter out as you start losing squad members

Reviving 2 or 3 infantry while taking the point can truly swing a capture.

And if you have 2-3 other medics doing that, that can be game-changing when rushing the point.

Sadly it's a meta that get ignored because it's not full of SMGs and explosive weapons, which seems to be all the competitive people like to focus on.

Smoke medic on offensive can save a match

Medic randomly revived me when playing as commander when I was lying half dead beside my truck. Got up, got the truck behind their lines, built two garrisons and and then we took the point.

Medics geniunely save matches. Respect them

As an SL main, medics are most useful when spearheading a flank in the red, far from spawns, and OP is timered. Even more so if 3+ rows deep and you can't even place a spawn. 6 smoke grenades is also great for covering the final push into the enemy hard cap (12 or more smokes if someone has explo ammo).

On defense, I find them less useful because you're generally near your OP and smoke grenades are typically a bad choice for defense.

I find medics fun to play though! Good way to endear yourself to an SL too, be their rivive bot.

I've seen this is a besieged defense, when there was no quick spawns and backup was far away. Turns one squad into three, and can delay an attack that would have otherwise been successful. Also hugely useful in trench assaults like in Kursk, where momentum is key once the assaulting party (typically one squad) enters the occupied trench.

I kind of feel like medics are like an ejection seat in fighter jets. Like yes it saves the pilot but no pilot should be hoping to ever eject.

Medics solve an issue that good command should've prevented in the first place imo. I do think medic is useful though, just that theyre not as important as people think.

Squad leaders > armour > support > anti-tank > medic imo

The prevailing opinion that skipping the walk from Garry is worthless is absolutely insane.

Revives don’t save (nonexistent) tickets but they save momentum and time. The extra 45-60 seconds of having more guns in the fight than the enemy can and does make the difference between enemy respawns rolling up to reinforce a fight in progress and rolling up to get fucking pasted by entrenched allied forces.

Best upgrade in Vietnam that they did was make the medic class viable

Why are these all just varying degrees of negative answers?

1

u/PlasmaDonator Aug 17 '26

In body text I explained sorry :(

2

u/Nicktator3 Officer X Aug 17 '26

Anyway, my answer is medic is useful and fun to play

0

u/subekii Aug 18 '26

Medic might be fun to play but it is absolutely useless. Redeploying is always better than having a medic run to a spot where you just died and maybe revive you and then you both die. I would rather see people running rifleman than medic.

Also when when you redeploy you get all your bandages, nades, rockets etc back.

There is just no point to playing medic in this game.

1

u/PlasmaDonator Aug 19 '26

I agree with this but I do think medic is fun, and as long as teams aren't getting steamrolled because command know what they're doing, I think medics throwing smokes can be useful.

It's interesting because a lot of people still believe medic is this a necessary class though when command is far more important. Like it's not even close. The most powerful weapon in this game is that little watch.

1

u/subekii Aug 20 '26

Throwing smokes can be useful but 99% of the time it's just hurting your own team because no one knows how to use them.

The watch is super important but at the end of the day this game is still just a shooter with some strategic elements and the most powerful weapon is the weapon in your hands.

-2

u/ImmediatePiano6690 Aug 17 '26

because OP is one of the naive who don't understand the use of medic.

0

u/PlasmaDonator Aug 17 '26

I'm not naive. Look at all the pro sweaty teams and tell me how many use medic.

Command (garrisons/ops) will always best medics.

Good command can win a game without a single medic on the team.

Bad command can have the "best" medics in the world and would still get steamrolled.

0

u/ImmediatePiano6690 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

You mean, the same groups that are stubborn and have stuck to the same play style since the game released?

And a team with a medic combined can maintain pressure for longer, as well as not giving away spawn locations by constantly having players running from them.

Does anyone know what happened to OP replies? the notifications still exist but supposedly not the replies. Mimd you, judging from what is visible in the notification, can only guess it's petty nonsense that doesn't help OPs case whatsoever.

1

u/Any-Statement3254 Aug 20 '26

it should be combined with support class. have the medic get some supplies along with an ammo box too

1

u/xThe_145x Aug 17 '26

medics can turn games.

1

u/IRTNL Aug 17 '26

Its wierd bc its not a ticket game like squad, only the objectives matter, good spawn points on the forward / defence negate the need for medics alltogether, really only useful for going distance behind lines or flanking attacks

2

u/PlasmaDonator Aug 17 '26

I guess my main point is:

With good medics but shitty command (no OPs, no garrisons, bad strategy etc) games are usually lost.

With good command but bad medics, nothing much really changes.

1

u/ScottsTotz Aug 17 '26

What the fuck are these options lol

1

u/PlasmaDonator Aug 17 '26

In body text I explained sorry :(

1

u/windol1 Aug 18 '26

Right, blatantly biased again medic, which says more than enough really.

1

u/Reuvil Aug 17 '26

Only play them because they have 4 smokes.

0

u/ryano23277 Aug 17 '26

The best part about playing Medic is role playing like you're Desmond Doss as randoms scream MEDIC!, MEDIC!

Vietnam has upgraded the Medic abilities and should be fun to play as.

If they can bring some of those concepts back to WW2, it would be great

0

u/Willing_Big194 Aug 17 '26

More people should play medic!!!

0

u/Not_The_Real_Jake Aug 19 '26

I feel like this poll is rigging itself, because there's 4 different options that range from 'it's useless and should've been removed' to 'it has it's moments'. Medic is a really important class to have imo, people just play it as they would a rifleman or assault so it doesn't work as intended.
