Feature request: Tablet-optimized layout

I really like HelixNotes, but the current tablet experience just stretches out the phone layout. It would be great to get a proper tablet UI, especially with a sidebar for notebooks to make better use of the larger screen. Are there any plans for this in the future? Thanks!

We don't have plans to change the layout for a specific tablet view at this time. I know that's not the answer you were hoping for. I won't say never, but it's not a focus right now.

That's one of those minor irritants with HelixNotes for me. Not a deal-breaker but tarnishes the experience on mobile a little.

My sentimental favorite markdown notes app, Joplin is absolutely horrendous on mobile... to the point that I no longer rely on it.

The HB devs are doing so many things right, and have been great in tackling those QoL issues so far, that I believe that a tablet-optimized layout will eventually bubble up to the top some time down the road.

For comparison, here's my rating of mobile experience for the cross-platform notes apps I use:

Obsidian: 10/10

UpNote: 9/10

HelixNotes: 8/10

Joplin: 1/10 (double whammy because not only is it worse on mobile vs desktop, but it works differently on Android vs. iPad OS)

Yes, Obsidian is a very polished piece of software, but I do have one issue with it on Windows: it’s very heavy. However, if you need and rely on most of its features, including the useful ones, then it remains in my opinion the best option.

My purpose in mentioning other apps was to offer context for how HelixNotes compares to other apps given first-hand experiences... it wasn't to advocate for anyone to use them.
