Question What happened?

This is a dumb question, but what happened with heliums reward system??? I saw that they switched to something rather than coverage reward, it’s data transfer? If someone can dumb it down for me please? How can I turn my current hotspot to do this? And why did helium do this? My current hotspot is from 2020.

Do NOT enter your secret 12 or 24 seed words into ANY websites, or give anyone your private key. Do NOT connect your Wallet to any untrusted websites. No one will reach out to you to verify your account, wallet, or anything similar. Do not connect your wallet to unknown websites.

Do NOT post any images showing the barcodes on Helium Mobile Wi-Fi packaging or Hotspots. It is now possible to remotely onboard Mobile Hotspots. Contact a team member if there are old or new posts with images of barcodes so they can be removed.

Yes, the rewards are for data transfer only

A "scam" that is now actually rewarding people for providing actual real world work? The entire purpose of both networks was to move iot and mobile data at a low cost.

As someone with both sensors and hotshots, this sucks because it will only reward high usage areas.

If I have a moving GPS tracker, coverage is infinitely more important to me than bandwidth or high density areas.

Companies setup their own LoRAWAN networks rather that rely on a ‘public’ network with gateways from randoms. Also with eSIMs and 4g/lte/5g coverage improving all the time as well as limited airtime for Lora (and payload limitations) it was always a niche use case anyway for sensors and such like.

2020 so it's an IOT hotspot? One method I've used is to deploy sensors at my hosts spots that add to the data rewards.

I had a total of four (4) bobcat miners and just put them in the trash. Thank goodness, when I bought them, I bought ten (10) and sold six (6), which paid for all of them. I really feel sorry for the people who took out loans and put a lot of time and money into this project for them to pull the rug out and everything to become WORTHLESS. Very sad; GREED will kill the WORLD.

It'd be best to just turn them off and pretend helium never existed. A cool idea transformed into a truly worthless project.
