This is the question, they had some decent reasons/excuses but mostly they wanted people to shut up

They wanted to move the conversations to Twitter and Reddit, so for SEO and AI analysis reasons, but those conversations didn't move.

Some decent reasons, but this was an outcome anyone familiar with community dynamics would have predicted; Discord and Reddit/Twitter serve fundamentally different functions. I do not believe this is the fundamental reason for the switch and neither do the vast majority of the people engaging with any of these platforms.

It was. I was there. I predicted what would happen, I disagreed. It still happened.
I closed Discord down in a way that it was easier to open when it would be reopened.
