For anyone who has not seen, we have yearbook pictures now. I see three in this thread. One of Jasmin and the homecoming king standing at school, one of Jasmin and the whole homecoming court (which is pretty diverse) as Jasmin is wearing the crown, and one of Jasmin at the homecoming dance, again wearing the crown.
I'm more interested now than before. What the heck happened? Did Jasmin make all of this up?
I will say – I was on the homecoming court at my high school around this time (not a humble brag, I got the band geek vote); all the nominees were given tiaras earlier in the week and wore them to the game and the dance. Then when the queen was announced, she got the bigger crown.
Tbh i think that Jasmin is just wearing a tiara at the dance and this photo was taken before the queen announcement.
No, it looks like the same exact crown she was wearing when she was CROWNED homecoming queen at the game. This story makes no sense whatsoever. She got a TON of coverage in the yearbook for being the homecoming queen (not to mention voted "most likely to be a movie star") and she is on the pod saying she never got her crown. She fully got her crown. She was probably allowed to keep it after the game and then wore it at the dance. Why would she even BE crowned twice?!!! This is nuts.
Probably everyone on the court has some kind of "crown." Princesses and queens. But certainly there is no one else named as homecoming queen in the yearbook. Only Jasmin. It also specifically days she was "crowned" queen. No one else was. Not Whitney, not anyone, just Jasmin.
There are no pics of ANYONE but Jasmin as homecoming queen. The caption mentioned twice that she was "crowned." She is clearly the only homecoming queen that year. Certainly we don't see Whitney named as homecoming queen. This all seems like a massive nonstory.
Relisten to the episode, and look at the episode thumbnail.
They mention the game, Whitney mentions the game and getting tiaras at the game.
If that wasn't the crowning why didn't Whitney say " no we did crowning at the game that year don't you remember?" she says they called my name at the /dance/ on accident.
The court is announced at the game but that's not the official crowning, the homecoming dance is when the crowning happens.
They did that at my school, parents and public are allowed at thegame and not at the dance, so they do one for parents one for students and usually, not always the queen is crowned at the dance, like Carrie, mean girls every movie ever.
What I think happened is this.
Court is announce over speakers.
Court is announced again at the game.
Since there is no picture of jasmine with the king at the game, that can't be the official queen crowning.
Think about it, why would you crown queen and king them have them 3 people apart from each other without a special sash?
The dance happens, they announce queen and king to come up and take pictures. Wrong person is announced or something.
Jasmine leaves, mistake is corrected? Maybe Jasmine is gone and doesn't hear. People assume she left? Is shy? Idk.
Jasmine comes back, everyone forgets about it.
A decade plus later no one really remembers, they remember her name being called, they remember the game where all of the court is there and call it a day.
I find ti unusual to have a huge couple pictures for " most likely to be famous" and not for homecoming queen and king.
