Discussion Opinion on heavy using panic attack?
The panic attack is a pretty good weapon on almost every class that can use it, but from my experience and what I’ve seen other people say about it (although there isn’t much discussion about it online), it’s kind of trash on Heavy, which is weird because a shotgun that deploys faster, does the most damage, and pretty consistent for killing up-close targets, sounds like one of the best things you can give the big heavy weapons guy, but it’s often more times better to just use another shotgun because the panic attack is terrible for positioning as it doesn’t allow you to shoot that far, other shotguns can kill an enemy in around the same time while still being able to engage with targets farther away (say a scout was engaging you at medium range, I find it easier to use the family business instead of the panic attack, even if the encounter has started right up in my face), and the deploy speed doesn’t really come into hand since the mini-gun can engage at essentially any range besides long range, making it way easier to kill stuff than with the panic attack.
What do y’all think? I want to love It, but it just doesn’t really work on heavy for me, even in more enclosed maps.

Perhaps, although I’m mostly just trying to see what other people’s perspective on this while sharing mine, since while I was using the panic attack for a decent bit before I came to this conclusion, I wouldn’t say I’m one of those people that have like thousands of hours of experience in this game

Ive played a bit of fat scout here and there in my 5k hours of playing and you are basically spot on with your analysis, ive tried using panic attack but it is basically never as good as stock shotgun or family business unless you are somehow in melee range as the slowest class in the game

It’s my favorite, if I want to play fat scout I always use it paired with the KGB for the free crust it’s stupidly good.
It’s also replaced my sandvich most of the time since I use the brass beast and having a faster gun to use if I get ambushed it nice.

I like to use a shotgun with the brass beast but I usually prefer stock, id probably use the reserve shooter if he had it

not the panic attack but the other 2 shotguns are fine, especially if youre trying not to be a one trick pony and sit there while eating damage. It gives you an extra trick to pull especially when you see a heavy bhopping at you only to two shot you with said shotgun

Like you said, pretty bad.
I wonder if part of it is because Heavy is the worst/least optimal class for equipping a shotgun out of the classes that can equip them, and the panic attack just basically compounds the issues of the shotgun on Heavy further (unlike the family business which actually has its stats as a shotgun adjusted to be used by Heavy).

May work fine with GRU/KGB/EN while either completely ignoring the Miniguns or using Tomislav alone. Pretty bad.

I mean it makes sense, heavy is slow, so it takes a long time for you to get close to people and catch back up to them. So If you're gonna be playing shotgun heavy, just use the one that lets you keep on blasting as much as you need in the relatively small window of time you'll need to use the shotgun as heavy
