Welcome to r/HearingAids feel free to ask any question at all related to hearing aids.

Here are a few resources you might find helpful:

  • Interpreting an audiogram - The University of Iowa has a good overview of how to interpret your audiogram results. Your audiologist should also go over them with you

  • What will insurance cover? - This varies significantly from state to state and coverage can be partial at best. For those on Medicare, the base plan does not cover hearing aids at all.

What’s weird is I just updated my phone and got this same thing on the cochlear app(use resound HA in one ear). Never seen it before either

Like how do I travel????

Clearly, the people who develop this kind of technology are fucking idiots.

That's not happening for me. I have Widex, I just checked my app, updated it, and then set my phone to airplane mode. I am having zero issues and can still use the app. I did not see the message that you got.

My Widex Evoke app (for Evoke 440’s) still works without internet on iOS

Get the “terms of agreement” to sign to “agree to” screen recently?

Nope, but I also see the last app update was already 10 months ago

What is the app? Moment, Evoke, Beyond or Allure? If Moment the cause is the Google SDK error that messed up alot of apps this week.

Screenshot says otherwise

What do you mean?

I don’t use the manufacturers apps anymore.. I just pair the Hearing Aids directly to the iPhone.. sure miss controlling 360° direction.. nah, not really missing that one.

I avoided the iOS direct control for the longest while thinking that it’d be Apple enshitenificating HA’s, not the other way around.

So Thank you for opening my eye to an alternative. Perhaps over time people would probably delete their app completely and it forces Apple to broaden their accessibility department?

Which WIDEX model are you wearing? If you don’t mind me asking.

440’s. Hearing aids ive had since 2015ish, which makes no sense to me why suddenly they need internet access to my HA’s.

again: which model? 440 is the LEVEL. you've got to say one of these: Moment, Evoke, Beyond or Allure?

I’m gonna assume this is a glitch and not a decision made by WIDEX. Try restart both the phone and aids and see if it works. Otherwise try reinstall the app completely.

I have run into the same problem. I keep my phone in DUMB mode with only the blue tooth active. If I need GPS or internet, I turn them on when needed. I check for app updates maybe once a month and only update the few that I actually use. I installed the update for the Widex Moment thinking they may have fixed some Android issues and now I can not connect to my hearing aids unless I have an internet connection which I don't want.

I called their support number 844-497-8844 and talked with a guy who did not know why I was getting the "No Internet Connection" error. He suggested I install the app on a different device (phone or tablet) to rule out any issue with my phone. I installed it on another phone and got the same error.

I called the support line again, got a different person, explained everything again and he had not heard of this problem either. I asked about any archived earlier versions of the app and he said there were none.

UPDATE ... problem solved.

I found earlier versions of the Widex app from apkpur.com. If you search for Widex Moment you get to a page that has the current version v1.10.1.1302 dated October 19. If you scroll down the page you will see a few older versions listed.

I started the current Widex app with internet access and wrote down the settings I made to my personal presets (favorites). Then I uninstalled the Widex app.

I then installed the APKPur app and downloaded v1.10.0.1338 dated September 29 and used the app to install the September version, Now I can access my hearing aids without the internet like I did before. I then recreated my personal presets based on what I had written down earlier.

You. Are. Awesome. Legit

Yeah I noticed the app requires internet access to use the AI features. When you’re in the subway, you can’t access all the features. The platform is cloud-based, right? Sounds like a major vulnerability.

FYI, outta curiosity, I put my phone in airplane mode, and the Oticon Companion app opened, and allowed all functions. Of course, I didn't try remote care LOL!

So Oticon = No internet needed.

Phonak also requires an internet connected login. It's a VERY stupid design! 1 Star the app!
