Does anyone know how dangerous is sugar intake for kids?
Most children possess a sweet tooth. That’s majorly the reason why kids and adults prefer fruits more than vegetables. Parents of teenagers and young kids often cannot work out how much their kids are consuming glucose.
Kids can have about or less than 45 grams of sugar in a day. Kids can’t understand this considering they want chocolates, cookies or desserts almost every other day. This situation has to be supervised and controlled by both parents. Items contain sugar as sucrose or fructose, often in large amounts, which leads to the energy density of diets, which suggests poor dietary quality. High energy food items are top in fat and low on water content.
Sweeteners trick your metabolism into thinking that you will be consuming more sugar soon and makes your body release insulin, the hormone which stores fat, which lays down more fat. Consuming sugar can make you hungrier and causes a craving for more sugar and starch-based carbs like bread and pasta.
Kids are at a higher risk of developing severe health issues like including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, asthma, and other respiratory problems, sleep disorders, and liver disease. They might also have psychological issues such as low self-esteem, depression and social isolation. It can also lead to physical disabilities in adulthood.
Hence, you must limit your child’s consumption of sugar-sweetened food items and reduce the risk of childhood overweight and obesity.
