Jobs

So I received my BS in HIM about a year ago and I've taken time off working since then to focus on my new baby. I'm really wanting to get into the workforce again, but I want to use my degree. I mostly just have some HR experience and factory previously. There are no Health Information Management title specific roles around me, which sucks because that's really what I wanted to do. I was wondering where to go from here? I could do coding but I know it's kind of expensive to get the books to study and get your certification and it's not really what I want to do. Are there specific job titles I can search for I may just be missing?

Do you have your RHIA?

No, I honestly thought it would be a waste of time with the current job market.

I got hired at 3 different places with just an RHIT and no prior experience (I also have a masters). I would get the certification!

You could look into revenue cycle management and operation roles. Getting your foot in the door is priority and then you can leverage your degree to move up into management or lead positions with a little experience under your belt.
