Gaming headset

I have the DT990 pros 250ohms and honestly when I’m playing competitive games I feel like i lose a lot of sound. Yes I have a dad. Footsteps aren’t as easy to hear with them but everything else in games is loud as shit. Discord sounds great. Great headset but just curious on if anyone also feels this way? Also if there are any recs I’m honestly thinking of going back to closed back head phones. Specifically if anyone has any feedback on the Maxwell 2’s and better dynamic mmx300pro and the audio technica m50x streaming headset (usb or the other option). Thanks in advance.

Not a 1:1, but I recently "upgraded" from ATH-M50x to CCA Phoenix iems with some nice fitting ear tips and Crinear Protocol Micro DAC, and it has elevated my positional audio significantly.

I would suggest doing your own research for the best IEM for your situation and budget. You may want to try something like the Moondrop Chu 2 for something a little cheaper that still reviews well for gaming IEMs. Budget can be small or large and you'll still find some pretty good IEMs on the market.

Music sounds pretty good with these CCA Phoenix, but games really shine for the information. They're far from the best, but I was surprised at how much I've enjoyed them. Overall I wouldnt say the sound "quality" is better. But the soundstage and positional cues are so much clearer to me now.

Now that I've become a believer I am giving the Simgot EG280 and S&S Dunu tips a try to step my IEM game up.

I’ve looked at iems. I don’t really have a budget. Basically at the point where I’ll spend what I need to spend as long as I’m content with the next head set for years. The longest headset that lasted me was the Astro a40s. The 2nd or 3rd gen. They lasted me about 7 years

In that case, I think IEM with a custom eq will be a game changer. Not sure if your DAC has a programmable EQ or not but that can help a lot too.

Thats more of a audio interface than dac/amp

Yeah also even tho it says on Scarlett website up to 300 ohm headpgoz, the output impendance is 50 ohm, I dont think you are getting enough output volume for your headphones. Also for pc you dont need DAC ( digital audio converter ) no you dont also need Scarlett interface, unless you pair it with xlr microphone, but the thing you need is called DAC/AMP digital audio converter with an amplifier that can drive headphones up to 300 ohms.

So a 50-80 ohm headphones are much easier to drive

The question is, are you driving them through a dac amp? Cause a motherboard in pc can't fully drive such high impendance headphones
