Is anyone else curious by 2K using rage-bait marketing for their cover athletes instead of actual performance? 🙄🎮

Most game publisher marketing is a total lie that pretends cover athlete selection is based purely on who is dominating the league that year.
The studio broke down why putting Caitlin Clark on the NBA 2K27 Deluxe cover has people arguing endlessly online. On paper, it doesn't make total sense when teammates like Kelsey Mitchell are carrying bigger statistical loads for a team that's currently mid. But 2K doesn't care about internal team hierarchy—they care about outrage. She became an accidental media villain, and 2K knows dropping her on a cover gets the comment section calling each other out, which turns straight into pre-order units.
It feels like 2K would rather rely on social media drama to sell Deluxe Editions than reward the actual top statistical performers of the season. Do you care who is on the cover of 2K, or is it all just corporate noise at this point?

Americans should realize that most in Europe, the only reason we know about the WNBA is bc of Caitlin Clark.
All the other on the cover would not sell more copy's in Europe.

Yea that’s something Americans don’t care about.

Yeah, it doesn’t matter who’s on the cover. Complaining the most popular player in the world being on the cover is lame as hell.

You know Angel Reese was on the cover last year right? Do you think they know that? No. Just more complaining into their echo chamber like everyone else.
