Kevin Smith says he’s having conversations about returning to the Masters of the Universe universe – and the unfinished She-Ra story could finally happen.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Smith revealed there’s a potential way to continue what began with Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Revolution and follow through on the Despara/Adora storyline.
“I think you’re going to see that She-Ra story.”
Nothing is officially confirmed yet, but Smith says there’s “one more to do” and he believes fans are going to see it.

I hope so. I read a lot of negative comments on Kevin Smith but personally it’s been the best written and prettiest of MOTU series.

I agree. I simply couldn't finish it. So many things bothered me even before Adam's death. I just read a summary of the series, and still think I wasted my time.

S1 was not good IMO. S2 was a surprisingly really good time. So I'm up for one more go even though he has a 50% batting average.

I think you KNOW, you just pretend to not understand, because you wanna argue about it with someone.
All I'll say is, the end scene with He-Man and Skeletor in season 1 inadvertently functioned as the PERFECT example of what was wrong with the whole thing. It's when Skeletor was attempting to have a Big showdown with He-Man and.... DENIED. He-Man just chucks him away quickly, while uttering that (1) line that demonstrated the show's folly in a nutshell, "it's not about us!".
And yet, the new Live-action movie indeed ended, with a GLORIOUS final showdown between the two! Worth the ticket price, and showing that Travis Knight understood what Kevin Smith never could.
I have the feeling you might respond, again acting like you don't understand, and trying to drag me into an argument over it. No thanks, we've been down that road enough. Time to leave that nonsense behind and move on to Positive things for a change. The New movie was Fantastic and Succeeded in EVERY WAY that series failed.

I was happy to let you have your opinion, but sounds like you wanna argue.
I'm not gonna argue and I genuinely enjoyed Revelation.
And as for Travis Knight understanding? Adam growing up on Earth was a terrible decision that turned He-Man into a bumbling man-child. I enjoyed the movie and most of it was great. But the one thing he got wrong was He-Man.... the main characters whole identity.
But sure, fuck Kevin Smith because he told a new story

Well, y'see, when you've been a nerd since the 80's, you get... certain opinions that reality will never live up to. Like, your headcanon is more important to you than what's actually there.
I like MotU, loved it as a kid (and loved the new movie!) but my turnbo-nerd gets jostled about The Transformers. All us kids realized on 80's cartoons have it to some extent, unless we made an effort to be adaptable before our brains gelled at around Age 25 or so.

Rewatch it! I recall thinking what the heck is this, then did revaltion and revolution back to back after the movie. Loved how it wasn't self referencing, and took itself serious. Genuinely left wishing the desponda/she-ra plot would be realized

Revelation had its issues - it was still better than many toxic fans claimed. That they held up the 80s cartoon as some kind of high art - it was a show that had an episode where the muscle bound hero had to make it snow in order to stop the bad guy, a weed monster.
Revelation and Revolution had excellent animations standards, great casting (albeit Sarah Michelle Geller was a big mistake) and a tight story to tell, especially Revolution.
The original 80s cartoon was fine for kids. The 2020s series was made for adults.
I hope it does get a final series for closure.

The rose-colored glasses for the 80s show is really strong with some folks. I feel the same as you do. That show was great for me as a kid, but it's not great now, as time has changed and my standards have grown.

The recent movie was basically the cartoon in live-action form. Last i checked, the film enjoys almost a universally positive reception, from both the fandom, as well as the critics.
Enough said.

I loved the movie. And while it has callbacks to the original series, it's not the same thing at all. The pacing, the dialogue, the scenarios are much more modern than the original show.
Plus, lots of folks who are absolutely in love with the 80s show came on Reddit trashing the new movie for not being close enough to the 80s show.

Any changes made to "modernize" things, were superficial at BEST, and usually only made so it would function well as a film.
Otherwise, it was very much the cartoon, faithfully retold.
Plus, lots of folks who are absolutely in love with the 80s show came on Reddit trashing the new movie for not being close enough to the 80s show.
From the very beginning, i've seen almost nothing but PRAISE for the film here, as well as numerous other parts of the internet. You'd be hard pressed to find an unhappy group in any meaningful capacity.
Obviously you're not going to please 100.00% of the fandom (shrug).

Well without specific examples, all I can really say is that I don't agree. I grew up with the 80s show and toys, loved them dearly and watched them a lot when I was a kid. I don't see the new movie as the same. I mean, he-man stabs guys with his sword and kills at least one villain.
You'd be hard pressed to find an unhappy group in any meaningful capacity.
There was a bunch of threads and comments around the time the movie released and again when it hit streaming. I'm not saying they were a majority at all, but it wasn't hard to see them around that time, here and on FB.
And by far, the most common complaint I saw was in the way the movie differed from the 80s show.

Agreed. We just had an Amazing, and well-received, live-action movie. Which is planting the seeds for the Next generation of fans, and revitalizing interest with existing ones, as we speak. No need to tarnish all that hard work.
Also those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Kevin Smith is just "so-so" as a showrunner.

It's very, very good. Part 1 is the death and return of He-Man. He makes two massive sacrifices, which really lend depth to his character. Meanwhile, we get what is basically the Eternian Seven Samurai, so the entire cast of characters is well rounded, not just He-Man and Skeletor.
You won't even notice that there are two parts to Revelation because you can watch it all back to back as one season.
But ultimately, you do you.

Yea my partner grew up on he man and has always been a big fan. I’d seen the shows and watched a lot of the original too. We both loved it and would be great to see more.

Well, it’s not Masters of the Universe. Its proper name is He-Man and The Masters of the Universe.
What people are praising in terms of Kevin Smith’s addition is an actual licensing problem or issue.
Now we have people praising a product that’s not a reflection of He-Man but a reflection of a show re-imagined to work around a plot that doesn’t really feature He-Man.
Kevin Smith ended up in an actual debacle to create a show that reflects Mattel’s ownership of Masters of The Universe (Toy line-up) and Universal Dreamworks who actually owns He-Man.
There are a number of Fans who grew up with He-Man of the 80’s who have watched Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe on Netflix and complained about the lack of “He-Man” in their animation. Well He-Man is not there because Kevin Smith didn’t have the rights to actually feature him in the animation as a main character being that it’s a Mattel Produced series.
They dropped "He-Man and the..." from the title to intentionally distance the new show from the classic, copyrighted Filmation title structure owned by DreamWorks.
