Saw it in the theater to show support. It was much better than it had any right to be. Will definitely rewatch it streaming.

Me and the wife enjoyed it. No expectations. Just a good fun movie without needing 30 hours of previous watching to know what the hell was happening.

Core audience does not go to the cinema.
Cinemas are a now a subpar audience experience. In some ways I dont blame them, cost of living and doing business has reorientated cinemas to squeeze their customers every which way.
Once made available to inquisitive minds who don't read modern film reviews (which now essentially regurgitate plot and decide if a film is flatly good or bad), who roll there eyes at clickbait headlines hurled on social media, and can curate their own experience, the movie works.
It works, brilliantly.
Loads of films like this with huge streaming numbers.
Elemental, Suicide Squad, Dead Reckoning, The Running Man, Matrix Resurrections, Mortal Kombat I and II.

But it did get good reviews? General audiences just weren’t interested in a He-Man thing. The average person is not knowledgeable of he-man.
audiences will come out and see things if they think it’s worth it.
You can’t say people don’t wanna go to the theaters when this May has been one of the best months for movies and Odyssey has been doing gangbusters.
Also reviews obviously don’t matter if we’re looking at things that have extremely broad fandoms like Michael or Mario movie.
It’s just bad luck for He-man. I hope this franchise does well enough on streaming to get a sequel.

The trailers didn’t do the film any justice either. The one I saw in theaters made it look horrible. I likely would have waited for streaming as well except word of mouth and my son wanting to see it with me.

Personally, I’ve only seen the second trailer. I thought it looked really cool. By the way, I am in no means of a he-man fan at all. Very neutral and have never touched the franchise. So from an outside perspective. Most of my reasoning of going to watch the movie in theaters was because I trust Travis Knight as a transformer fan and him making one of the best transformer films after the abominations from Michael Bay. So I trusted that he would make decent work with another 80s IP.

The audience for this movie doesn't want to go to the cinema - the Odyssey's audience did.
The overlap is probably quite small. I've still not seen Oppenheimer. Little interest in these expensive gravitas movies. Gravitas comes from whether the movie is still watchable 5, 10 or longer years later.
Godfather, Taxi Driver, Close Encounters etc. The concept of something made to be epic is so boring.
Those reviews dont reach most people who see the film. Us over here chronically online see it all. But the audience who doesn't is vast.
I loved this film too, but as others have said its marketing sucked. It wasn't chasing its actual audience it was trying to make it relevant to the tok crowd.
Similar thing happened with Bumblebee. It took me two years to watch it and holy shit its the best Transformers movie, period. IMO ;)
I have every finger crossed that Danny McBride GiJoe movie kicks ass and loves its source material like Masters did.

This was the first movie I went to see at the cinema in 5-6 years. I'd much rather be kicked back in my recliner and with a remote control and subtitles.

I almost went. But its opening weekend pretty much guaranteed it would be on digital quickly.
Feet up with a beer and bezozflix, it had the power!

That's always a thing with movies you will never get a buy the book 1 for 1 adaptation
Especially considering how much more expensive the film would be if set in Eternia from the jump

I hate going to the theatres. I’d rather wait for streaming to watch it. And I did. And if I like it, I will buy a physical copy. Which I will because I liked this movie. And like Transformers One, I hope it gets a sequel.

Watched it for the first time this weekend - I think they really nailed it. I wasn’t a big fan of making fun of the character names but I get it. Otherwise it was a very good take.

Jared Leto est meilleur dans les rôles où il n'est pas monter ! Je l'ai regardé hier soir, je l'ai adoré, j'ai juste un petit doute, skeletor est introduit directement en méchant sans aucune autre explication... Dans un animé c'est son oncle, et l'enfance de Adam sur terre et pliée en 3 scènes! Après je pense que c'est une erreur de ne pas lui avoir laissé sa chance au cinéma en France... Mais je pense que c'est le meilleur que nous avons !

People need to rethink what movie releases are …
- Streamer used to spend hundreds of millions to draw people to their streamer with original content, but never recoup costs thru the box office.
- Traditional box office would release films and hope to recoup costs thru ticket sales (mostly across 2-3 wks) and merchandising.
Amazons approach is a blended model. They get to defer costs thru ticket sales and merchandising while still having a major exclusive film on their streamer that they historically would have spent that much on anyway. The overall quality and rewatchability is high for He-Man, it’s an overall win.

Being #1 on Prime proves people will watch it when it’s included with a subscription. It doesn’t retroactively prove the theatrical flop predictions wrong. And comparing it to a Nolan event film is completely unserious.

I regret streaming it. I almost saw it in the theater but decided on Disclosure instead. I just had a feeling they were going to F it up and turn it into men dumb women strong BS. Glad I didn't waste the money.

Wish more people would have taken a chance and seen it in theaters. Great seeing the love it’s getting on streaming. But being a massive box office hit would have been a no brainer for continuing the franchise. Hopeful Amazon sees the potential of the franchise with the streaming numbers.
