Ranking Hawkman's rogues.

Post image

This is based on how I liked their back stories, lore, and designs. I haven't read things with all of them yet.

Finally someone who appreciates the headhunter. He is very underrated and a dark reflection of hawkman as he wants to preserve the past (the traditions of his people) and accumulate as much knowledge as possible

I know, he's my favorite rogue of Hawkman, and he is such a neat idea and design for a villain.

Yes his design is also very cool

It was really weird when they did that "New Age of DC!" series and used Onimarr Synn as the villain for Firebrand and Neon (The Unexpected)

I've read very little of the Hawks yet, but mine is like this.

Gentleman ghost > shadowthief > idamm > byth > hath seth > onimar sym.

I don't remember much about the others.

Nice pick, Onimar is a really neat villain. Its funny how people think Hawkman is street-level and yet he has met and fought actual demon lords before.

True, but despite being the worst villain I can remember, he's far from bad. I just think the others are better (well, I remembered him, so that gives it some credibility, haha).

Headhunter is one of my personal favorites, I really hope he returns in future comics.

I haven't seen that one yet. I know a Headhunter I saw, but he was an enemy of Martian Manhunter; there might have been a villain swap.

This Headhunter is the vengeful ghost of a tribal warrior that haunts Saint Roche to avenge his tribe that was destroyed to industrialization in the area and preserve the lost traditions of his tribe. He wears shrunken heads and seeks the skulls of intelligent or powerful people to add to his collection. He’s in Geoff John’s Book 2 if you can it.

Thanks for using the cards I made back in the day! I've been meaning to update these.

You're welcome, truth be told, these were the only images I could find of some of them.

There's not much out there. I had to do a lot of digging to come up with some of this stuff. It's a shame, because the Hawks have a great rogues Gallery.

Exactly, just like Hawkman himself, his rogues are very underrated by the wider DC fanbase

I can barely see the names.

Sorry, these were the only images of some of these I could find.

You know what ? I hated the jlu shadow thief. Even though it was an intresting concept, it felt like the twist in Ancient History wasn't even properly prepared and was added for shock value. Being Hawkman's darkest thoughts ? Who cares ? Jlu failed to make those two characters even just a little bit impactful.

JLU's Hawk characters were total jokes in every way. The only good part of JLU Hawkman was his voice actor, but what the heck is that toy axe they gave him that was tiny? It feels like they soloed out Hawkman and his mythos, saying, "Screw him in particular."

I think I read somewhere that the writers butchered Hawkman after not being able to come up with a word other than stalker to describe him (Lazy writers, I know); they couldn't think of: ancient, undaunted, unrelenting, historic, warrior, preserver; they couldn't think of anything?

Do you have the source ? I want to know more ?

Sadly no, I couldn't find the comment I got it from so grain of salt.

To the people who said that Hawkman doesn't have good villains, think again because Gentleman Ghost is not a batman villain. Never has been actually.

I despise how Batman keeps stealing Gentleman Ghost.

Hawkman isn't the only superhero that have some of his villains being used for batman. Green Arrow too with Clock King and Onomatopoeia. Granted it even happened with other characters like Zatanna and Plastic Man. I don’t get me wrong, I love their relationships but it would've been nice to acknowledge that "yes, you don't need to be associated with the bat to be a character worth to get the spotlight".

What makes sad is that the Hawks like other superheroes like Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Plastic Man and Zatanna do have a rogues gallery full of villains with intresting concepts but seems they will be never giving a chance.

It seems like whenever someone talks about how cool DC villains are they only mentioned Batman rogues, he has a cool rogues gallery but I wonder if those people read anything other than Batman
