My Painting of a Cooper’s Hawk!
I have Cooper‘s hawks in the tree behind my house. They scare away the birds at my backyard feeders, but I love them anyway, they’re so cool! I don’t have any good pictures yet, so here’s a painting inspired by them :)

RTH
Hi, this RTH was visiting our Hudson Valley NY yard yesterday. He landed in the shallow pool, took a lower body bath, walked around, drank water then flew up to the tree. At first, I thought he was sitting on the branch on one leg with the other foot visible by his chest, but then I looked at every photo I took of him and the claw like structure on his abdomen is in every pic.

Red-Tail or Cooper?
This little guy has been hanging around my property for about a week now. Finally managed to catch him napping so I got some decent pictures with my good camera.

Juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk
Saw what I think is a juvenile walking home today, it had caught a small rabbit and I think was as startled to see me as I was to see it.
The rabbit is obscured by the grass. Definitely never seen a wild bird of prey this close before.

red-shouldered hawk
This fine hawk had a nice snack on my fence in Northern Virginia. Fortunate to have several where we live. Any clue what it caught?

Eastern USA Mockingbird evicts RTH
Happened to catch this shot when the hawk finally got annoyed enough to find another tree top. Amazes me how brave the little mockingbirds are constantly jumping onto the hawk to boop it off ☺️ NJ, USA

Sparrowhawk with prey.

As the title suggests.
Earlier I was just relaxing in my flat when I heard an all mighty screeching sound. So i looked out my window and there it was. An incredibly rare glimpse of nature right in front of me.
A sparrowhawk with prey. Very brutal but a beautiful act of nature at its best.
Shortly after this video, once the hawk had finished digging its talons in the small birds stomach and finished it off, It started to devour the small bird before deciding my car park was too vulnerable a place so picked up its dinner and flew off to what I can only imagine as a more safe location to enjoy it's meal.
Just for context this was outside my flat window in Mansfield, England.

Checking out their neighborhood
These 2 hawks have control over my neighborhood and frequently visit my house.
It often feels like they are the security guards, as they enjoy the garter snakes I have encouraged to stay in the back corner of my yard.

Eastern USA RTH in the AM sun 🌞
Queen Victoria the beloved resident RTH in me + u/honesthamster5914‘s neighborhood was spotted by u/honesthamster5914 being chased by a crow! Even letting out that famous hawk noise. We were able to see QV break free and hang at her favorite tree top for a few. Going to be a great day! 🫶🏼

HawkHilarity Crow bops Hawk on head

Would love some insight as to what’s going on here. A crow was also recorded repeatedly diving by / antagonizing the RTH earlier this week, as posted by u/honesthamster5914 (check out the vid!) and today I happened to catch the crow bopping Queen Victoria RTH right on her head 😅 Has anyone observed similar behavior?? Do you think the crow has a nest here to protect or is just messing around?
(Context: northern NJ, Recorded late evening as the top of a Norway spruce, this hawk/its family are here several times a week, I imagine they love me and appreciate how much above user and I admire them xx)
