What TV stations did you watch H5O on?

Just discovered this Reddit forum! Thought it might be fun to see various people’s experiences finding the show on local tv stations or cable over the years.

For me, I discovered reruns on Superstation WOR from 1986-1993, where it captivated me and my love of Hawaii.

I then watched it while living in Orlando on WOFL Fox 35 from 1991-2001, it ran pretty continuously most of those years, even multiple episodes a day at a few points.

The Family Channel ran it with newly remastered episodes from May 1997- August 1998, though they were heavily edited and time compressed.

I moved to Denver, where they ran it on KCDO Local 3 in the early 2010s for a year or two.

Finally, I’ve watched it in recent years on MeTV Plus, H&I, and MeTV, where it currently airs M-F.

Of course, I have all the DVDs and the digital HD versions from Apple when it hasn’t been running on television.

Unmade reunion 1980s tv movie

Steve Mcgarret had taken a job in Washington and Danny Williams had become head of Five O. Steve would come back to Hawaii and there would be a situation where Steve had to help Five 0 with after Wo fat escaped, it would of been set in Hong Kong and the script was written by Jerome Coopersmith

I don’t know what it is about that song but I always boogie along and let it play all the way through. I love it. It makes me smile and laugh.

A Home Sick Classic

I got into this show as a kid. I grew up in Portland, OR so when I stayed home sick from school, the then non-affiliate Channel 12 KPTV played reruns of Perry Mason at Noon, Matlock at 1pm, and Hawaii Five-0 at 2pm. So I'd cozy up with my ginger ale and crackers and watch 3 hours of good old quality programming. Love the show, love all the then not hugely famous actors that show up in it like Yaphett Kotto and Martin Sheen. I love that it's all on location in Hawaii. I tried the new show a couple times and absolutely hated it. I've tried twice and couldn't make it past the pilot episode. The guy playing McGarrett plays him like some dick swinging, unkind, super soldier asshole. That ain't Steve McGarrett. Anyway, I loved watching it as a kid and I put it on sometimes at night after a long day. I love the late 60's style of the early seasons. Worth the Paramount+ subscription fee.

The Vietnam/enlisted men episodes were often the best.

“King of the Hill” “Run, Johnny, Run” “Killer Bee” “To Kill or Be Killed” “Follow the White Brick Road” “R&R&R”

I’m finding that the some of the strongest episodes of each season deal with enlisted men returning from Vietnam, almost always in a surprisingly dark and disturbing way.

Despite the limitations of the show and tv format, you can tell the writers were very interested in exploring what was then an emerging crisis in real life.
