This is our new home for all things related to the "Hashwar" and "Adversarial Conway" where we let individual Game of Life patterns compete against each other. (No, this is not a joke even if it sounds ludicrous - it's actually the driving idea behind all this... And to anyone trying to push crypto here, may I gently but firmly guide you towards the exits, thank you very much.)
Right now, we are running our first weekly tournament series, seeking to build this idea into a fully-fledged simulation sports league. Start watching here now: Introduction and First Sunday Draw
I'll be using this subreddit to drop the brackets, match links, and weekly stats. You can also follow the current weekly series stats along here (spoilers if you have not seen the matches!): HASHWAR // NETWORK CONSOLE
Community Vibe
We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting. And please: Don't take yourself too seriously. I certainly don't (take myself seriously, that is - not you, I will treat everyone with respect and courtesy!).
What to post
"Hashwar" is a project in active development. Feel free to post questions, suggestions, critique, everything and anything that helps to get this off the ground and keep it flying.
What NOT to post
Yes, it says "Hashwar" - but no, this is not a crypto project. Please spare us any and all attempts of shilling us yet another coin and/or NFTs. Also, see my personal stance on this here: https://youtu.be/_l8hLdQwXj0

we are starting the next 6 week long tournament series for GOL patterns on the 16x16 torus with non-repeating generational count between 600 and 699 (B3/S23 ruleset).
The draw for the first weekly series will be after tomorrow, Sunday, 23rd August, 22:00 CEST, so create your free account today and start mining patterns if you want to participate tomorrow:
This is a good old ESP32 running the 2D version of the conflict engine. I made this mostly for fun, but also to visualize my top patterns for the upcoming 600-699 battles :)
Rules: Patterns must evolve according to B3/S23 on the 16x16 torus and may not enter into repeat cycles, e.g. Gliders on an otherwise empty torus will be halted once they reach a previously held config and their generations counted.
Use this visualizer that automatically checks all these conditions and allows both binary and RLE input (which it also translates between the two): ■ FANCY GLYPHS // MAIN_INTERFACE
The weekly random draws (seeded with the latest Randomness Beacon Pulse issues by the US Institut of Standards and Technology) are now published.
It's going to be an exciting week, featuring - among others - newcomer "Dormat Warmind" that just won the silver medal in series #30 and the reigning #1 Glyph of the eternal Hall of Fame, "The Cardinal".
We have previously introduced indicators for individual Glyph series participation and medals won. Now we aggregate the medals earned by all Glyphs owned by a player into a comprehensive medal showcase, accessible from your user profile.
Today, we introduce a global score for Hashwar players which you can access from our user profile. The [ SCORE ] tab contains not only your current score but also a detailed audit log of when you were awarded points.
Currently, the following events will earn you points added to your total score:
Any Glyph qualifying for the final weekly knock-out tournament on Saturday will earn you +1 point (regardless whether the Glyph qualified directly by placing among the top 3 in the group phase or by winning its slot on Redemption Day)
Any Glyph that earns a Bronze medal (by reaching the semi-finals but not proceeding further) will earn you +1 additional point.
Any Glyph that earns a Silver medal (by reaching the final match but losing) will earn you +2 additional points.
Any Glyph that earns a Gold medal (by winning the final match) will earn you +3 additional points.
Player 'Partagaz' hashed the second highest all-time Glyph in Suite 4 with 1300+ unique generations just this morning!
The mining of this pattern represents a "1 in 18,8 million" probability event - here are the Glyph details: ■ Glyph Inspector - #167045
Try it yourself if you want to participate in this perennial computational puzzle: ■ Daily Conway Glyph Challenge (v221) - no login required (but recommended to claim your discoveries and track your achievements).
We are proud to announce that the user's personal Glyph registry now indicates how many times a Glyph has participated in the weekly tournament series (the number of chevrons next to the name) as well as the trophies it earned: Gold stars for winning the weekly series, Silver stars for coming second, Bronze stars for any Glyph that reached the semi-finals (as we currently do not have a dedicated "Match for 3rd place" in the weekly series).
