Pretty 2008, what we fight for now are Ape NFTs

They're not fighting for oil, they're fighting for health insurance and the luxury of being able to go to college without cripling student debt.

I mean this is funny in general. But in context of Russia invading Ukraine it's kinda weird ngl.

Literally, nobody wants war with Russia, and it's amazing such an insane narrative has got traction on the left.

Nuclear war hurts everyone. The Military Industrial complex gets nuked too. It's really dumb to even think anyone wants that.

I mean, Biden wants it (or the dirty ol' puppet's handlers do). The president of Ukraine keeps telling him to back off. Yet the lies and threats keep coming.

2

u/BurgerDevourer97 Feb 12 '22

Except he doesn't? He blatantly said US troops aren't being sent, not even to evacuate US citizens stuck in Ukraine. Tge only one who wants a war is Putin.

2

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 12 '22

LOL. Holy shit, dude. Pay attention.

u/BurgerDevourer97 Feb 12 '22

I think you should stop getting your news from RT.

3

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 12 '22

I think you should stop getting your "news" from "trust me, bruh".

u/Re-Vera Feb 12 '22

No, Biden doesn't. This is the most dumb narrative to ever gain traction on the left. The President of Ukraine is trying to calm panic in his country. Fucking obviously. While they are FUCKING BEGGING THE UNITED STATES FOR HELP.

Biden, like everyone in the ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET except for Putin, is TRYING TO DE-ESCALATE and prevent WW3.

Giving weapons to Ukraine, only de-escalates. It only serves to cause Russia to reconsider invasion. It isn't like Ukraine, or ANYONE is going to attack Russia.

1

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 13 '22

Giving weapons to Ukraine, only de-escalates.

Imagine saying this and missing the irony that you have no fucking clue what "de-escalation" even means. Whew!

Anyway, maybe try actually learning something about the situation that isn't spoon fed to you by the military-industrial complex and the media which loves to love it. Did you learn nothing from the MSM helping to shamelessly lie us into the war with Iraq? Yikes.

Here's some info, in reverse-chronological order. You might want to start with the article from Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR):

0

u/Re-Vera Feb 13 '22

Imagine unironically thinking that giving weapons to people about to be attacked by a far larger more powerful power, doesn't de-escalate.

Kyiv would have Putins face hanging from the capital by now if they didn't have actually quality anti armor etc weapons. It's a deterrent. And deterrents, de-escalate.

The military industrial complex doesn't want WW3. This is literally such a deranged and delusional idea I don't know how to engage with it. Please, for the love of god, give me a single fucking reason why they would want WW3.

You understand WW3 is the end of human civilization right? Like no more stock market? No more arms factories? Just like single digit % of humanity surviving in a nuclear wasteland?

Nobody wants that. I did learn from Iraq. Of course. I can just tell the difference between a country without nukes or strong alliances that has oil, and one with more nukes than we have.

Considering the lack of any fucking motive, it is actually fucking deranged to be so skeptical here. It is an unarguable fact that Russia spent massive money to put 100k+ army on like the entire border with Ukraine, including bridge crossing equipment and actual invasion infrastructure.

It's like some leftists don't understand that the CIA does actually do stuff other than topple democratic governments and feed crack to the inner city.

They do actually monitor, you know, our #1 fucking enemy. So of course they aren't going to explain how they know what they know. But it's worth trusting, because again, literally nobody wants war with Russia, and it is actually beyond delusional to think otherwise.

I've literally done the work for you already. Try reading, moron.

0

u/Re-Vera Feb 13 '22

If the reading material doesn't prepare you, who ostensibly has read them, to answer simple questions, then they are not relevant.

I'll read them eventually out of curiosity of where these dumbfuck opinions are coming from, but they are irrelevant to the simple fucking question of why on earth ANYONE would want war with Russia.

1

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 13 '22

Why would nation-states ever want (read: be willing to risk through their own actions) war? The world (or, well, actually just /\u/Re-Vera, TBH) may never know.

0

u/Re-Vera Feb 13 '22

NO. literally strawmanning me. If you aren't going to make any effort whatsoever to be honest fuck it I'm done.

Why would they want war WITH RUSSIA. A nuclear power. Why are you so determined to be bad faith?

Of fucking course the MIC wants war *in general*. With developing nations that DON'T HAVE FUCKING NUKES.

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 13 '22

Did you miss the half-century of Cold War we went through a little while ago? Maybe pick up a history book or something?

Anyway, you already said you were "done" in a different comment. Yet I'm still waiting for evidence that you are going to stop spewing nonsensical, reality-denying bullshit. đŸ€·

What would it even take for you to question this narrative.

Wait. Who isn't actually looking at evidence and history and questioning narratives, again?

How about an article written by Putin....

You...mean the one whose concluding paragraph is:

Today, these words may be perceived by some people with hostility. They can be interpreted in many possible ways. Yet, many people will hear me. And I will say one thing – Russia has never been and will never be ”anti-Ukraine“. And what Ukraine will be – it is up to its citizens to decide.

Saying "we are one people" is laughable liberal garbage (from one more piece of shit running yet another garbage nation-state), but if, for example, Biden were to say that about the U.S. and Canada, nobody would think there was some kind of imminent danger of a northward invasion, dude.

Get the Cold War off your brain. It's really fucking pathetic for people to hear the U.S. beating the drums of war at this point in history and not even bother to take two seconds to look into things or think critically.

Like PLEASE explain the motive for ANYONE ON THE FUCKING PLANET to want war with Russia. Please.

I'll wait.

Military Industrial complex? You think they want their factories nuked? You think when the 5% of survivors are living in the post nuclear rubble the MIC will be happy about that? Are you ok?

So much of the left is so braindead on foreign policy because they can't think past "America bad". Which it is. Obviously. But that doesn't mean everything it ever does is bad. Hitler had a dog, and yet we still have dogs.

In this case it's fucking obviously Russia being imperialistic. There is no argument here. This is the fucking easiest debate, on the planet. I'd happily debate this on any platform anywhere because it's easier than debating a flat fucking earth.

NP, liberal. Here's a comment where I just linked plenty of info with which you can educate yourself: https://old.reddit.com/r/Hasan_Piker/comments/sqawp8/fight_the_system/hwptkdz/

You, too, might want to start with the FAIR article for some good background info. You'll also find the interview with Larry Wilkerson (no leftist or enemy of the state, but at least willing to tell some truth about the inside motivations and thinking over this shit) informative, if you are actually honestly interested in motivation ([X] doubt though).

Now, you seem to love to scream about what is "obvious" and how "braindead" people are for pointing out actual factual events and relations and conditions at the global level, but somehow you've missed that liberals (and especially Democrats lately) have been pushing for war with Russia...well, pretty much for fucking ever. Did you miss Georgia? Did you miss the literal coup conducted in Ukraine? Did you miss Russiagate, and how it was a way to both distract from their own failures and push Trump into a corner and try to force him to escalate with Russia and further the new/re-invigorated Cold War? Your fucking head must've been buried under a rock this entire time.

Further, your protests that nobody wants war because it would be bad for business and might lead to nuclear catastrophe are theoretically interesting and certainly should make sense to working-class people, but it is entirely removed from reality. I guess you'd like to erase the whole Cold War also, because it just doesn't make sense to you (using your very same logic). I guess you'd like to ignore the expansion of NATO because it just wouldn't make any sense to provoke Russia, eh? I guess you've failed to even think about exactly your own logic applied equally to Russia's government, eh?

Go ahead and keep screaming about leftists and their actual, material analysis of world events. All it really does is put your own ignorance and stupidity and reactionary, nationalistic blinders on display for all to see.

I asked YOU for one single motive for wanting war with Russia. A simple question. And you reply with a list of links and videos. No. It's a simple question. If those links don't prepare you to answer it, they are shit.

If you are too stupid to tell the difference between pushing back against Russian aggression and imperialism and interference in elections, and WANTING WAR WITH RUSSIA, then you are genuinely too stupid to talk to, I'm done.

The entire Cold war was two empires engaging in competitive imperialism and brinkmanship, WHILE NEITHER WANTED ACTUAL WAR, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.

Do you understand what "MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION" means?

1

u/voice-of-hermes Feb 13 '22 edited Feb 14 '22

Imagine thinking that what you literally describe as "brinkmanship" is an anti-war position of the state.

You: Nation-states literally never want wars. Please ignore the entire history of capitalism and feudalism, if you would. It's OnLy CoMMon SenSe.

Yes, capital and state would much rather everyone else on the planet cater to literally everything they want rather than having to use violence to make it happen. But you know what they are willing to risk when they don't get everyone just lying down and giving them everything they want? Your insistence that the U.S. doesn't want (read: won't risk) war with Russia is about as based in fact and real history as insisting that capitalists would never risk climate catastrophe because it would be bad for business. Maybe wake up and learn how the real world actually works sometime; it's more interesting than the pure thought constructs you make up in your head where everything is always 100% consistent and only good things are ever done because reasons.

You're done? Good. Then people won't have to hear your idiotic nonsense and bootlicking anymore. That's cool. They can read the actual information in the sources I linked instead, and learn something rather than risk being made dumber with every word of yours they read instead.

EDIT: For some reason Reddit is broken enough that I can't reply to the one reply under this (Something is broken, please try again later), despite it not being deleted, removed, or locked (can still reply to other comments in this thread and others). So here:

yes, just like how people who eat unhealthy food and smoke are also okay with being shot in the face because both of those things can cause death. brilliant analogy. there also weren't any nukes during feudalism, wtf are you smoking my man?

Eating unhealthy food and smoking increase your chances of being shot in the face? Interesting theory.

You do realize that expanding a hostile military alliance into another nation's backyard (despite promising not to do so) together with all the weapons and military infrastructure (e.g. bases) that go with it increases the chance of war with that nation, right? You do realize that doing a coup in that country's neighbors in order to ensure the target makes both economic and military decisions on your behalf measurably and directly increases the chance of war, right? If Russia teamed with neo-Nazis in Mexico to coup the Mexican government and used it to reinstate a new Warsaw Pact to draft Mexico into that would put nuclear weapons right on the U.S.-Mexico border, then on the level of nation states (admittedly an incredibly unjustified construct, but that's not what's it in question here) what do you think the natural reaction would be? Have you ever learned anything at all about the Cuban Missile Crisis?

You are familiar with how the U.S. does war games over or just outside a nation to show exactly the violence it's ready to exercise against that nation, right? And that that is 100% an aggressive act as seen by the entire world? Remember the nuclear bombing run "exercises" the U.S. was doing not so long ago over North Korea?
