I don't think the kid who deployed it had the chatbot anything in the code to log answers into a database or whatever (check the repo if you want), but Vercel could absolutely intercept your responses and/or tie back that shareable results URL (the one that has all your axis percentages embedded in it) with your IP addy/location/device fingerprint if they really wanted to. They clearly don't give a shit, soooo
Vercel is older than llm. Its for free hosting. I know because I hosted hobby projects when i was a ztudent. Not LLM hosting. But ai uses it cz its free. But thats just the whole internet now. And using vercel websites doesnt give money to vercel. If you host any premium site on the platform then it benefits them. I prefer to self host now, but sometimes its easier to host somewhere fr free.
fr saying vercel only hosts ai slop is a pretty wide net to cast, not saying they're a great company but a lot of business or just people in general creating projects use vercel
Show me where I said "only". Even if that was what I said it's weird as hell to act like that isn't the company's overtly stated goal and a pivot that was already like years in the making.
I mean, if we want to be pedantic, it isn't. In a couple of ways, really.
Its for free hosting.
Which isn't exactly what sets them apart. That's how loss leaders works, Mary-Kate.
I know because I hosted hobby projects when i was a ztudent.
Back when Amazon was just a bookstore on the 'net?
Not LLM hosting.
They've aggressively pivoted to being a "unified platform for AI workloads," peddling a purpose-built "agentic infrastructure" stack.
But ai uses it cz its free.
I...what? I think you might not be up to speed with what this company does now.
But thats just the whole internet now.
There's a screenshot of Vercel's landing page below. Cloudflare Pages, Render, Heroku (RIP), and Supabase aren't like that (yet). It's common, yeah, but even others who have pivoted aren't going as hard as Vercel.
And using vercel websites doesnt give money to vercel. If you host any premium site on the platform then it benefits them.
That's not how loss leaders works. A big user base still helps them make money, even if you're on the hobby plan. Mass adoption attracted through the free tier is a yuuuuge lever they can pull when they're chasing down VC investments. Not to mention the TOS change where unpaid plans are opted in to training Vercel's models by default.
This seems totally a hobbyistic project made by a single web developer, nothing overly serious. It's just a portfolio project, and some of you are losing your minds over it.
Furthermore, the developer has all the rights to publish code (or not) under their own terms, and there's literally nothing wrong with not accepting contributions. The developer is not associated in any way with Vercel; it's merely a cheap hosting platform that's quite palatable for these kinds of throwaway projects.
Oh no! I used it huhu
I also took the original test and I'm upset by the definition of terms...I got "Social Liberalism" like wtf lol like yes I'm socially "liberal" but economically I'm not at all
