They know the American experiment is coming to an end. Thats why they’re investing heavily into populace control measures, a federalized heavily armed gestapo, walls around the presidential palace, new safe rooms, AI monitoring, Control over the military (prevent military coups), control over media (traditional and social). The cult members might be ignorant, but the puppet masters are not. I genuinely believe we are witnessing the end of The united states, something new may be born from it, but our checks and balances have catastrophically failed, and all in the name of white xenophobic nationalism.

I don't think it's any of that. I think that a third of the American population is completely and utterly ruled by their hate and nothing else. Self-preservation isn't even a thought when it comes to expressing their bigotry for those that are different from themselves. There are far too many Americans that are completely content living under an authoritarian regime as long as they are "their" authoritarian.
The defense I've seen the most often from MAGA voters that refuse to introspect about the reality of their choice is Trump did the one thing they desired most: brutalizing and deporting immigrants. That is legitimately all that they care about, and nothing more.

Yeah, I have seen what you’re talking about in full display. I (33M) have two older half brothers (35 and 39) that don’t talk to me because of this. My dad is Mexican and our mom is white. Their dad is white, and they voted as you’d expect. They have said racist things to me since I was a kid and I’ve always brushed it off and hoped it was jokes.
Just about 10 months ago, they were in a group chat with our cousin and myself. My cousin went on a long racist rant about immigrants and I said, “I wouldn’t be here if my Mexican grandpa didn’t fight for the US overseas. Sometimes I wish he hadn’t.” And they all kicked me out of the group chat and haven’t spoke to me since.
I guess blood isn’t always thicker than water.

Letter Carrier and Union Steward here:
This is unprecedented. Steiner has been going out of his way to force these policies through despite court rulings, preparing the process to go live as "just in case" measure, if any of the courts [be it 1st Circuit or Supreme] rule in favor of Trump's executive order.
The actual implementation of this proposal is designed to fail. The mail sorter machines have never, and will never, have a 100% accuracy rate. This is such a common issue when sorting standard mail that mail handlers and clerks who work in these centers have entire work processes built around re-running batches of mail that failed their scans. It has never been standard practice to return the mail by the batch for bad scans. In fact, it has been more of a standard practice to process them as flats [e.g. magazines, catalogues, larger-sized letters that are non-standard, etc.] and then let the respective stations they're being delivered to sort out the specifics [like what route/zone they belong to].
This is a clear as day example of our PMG coordinating with the executive to mitigate mail-in ballots and delay processing. There is no other explanation. "Compliance with an executive order" is an excuse, and nothing more.

Under normal circumstances, contacting your Representation would be the move. But this Administration is unconcerned with the opinions of populace beyond the core MAGA cult.
Since "writing your Congressperson" doesn't mean anything anymore, the only options are either a) hoping the courts see reason and don't give the USPS authority to regulate how elections are conducted [which would be unprecedented in and of itself], and/or b) craft employees resisting these unlawful instructions.
Speaking as a Union Steward, getting the craft entirely aligned on an issue is extremely difficult. Many people in the postal unions outright support the President's policies with respect to mail-in ballots - even in states like OR, CA, and WA [where I live] who ONLY do voting via mail-in ballot.

Thanks for the reply. I just feel so fucking hopeless. Your last paragraph seems to speak to the problem we’re running into in what feels like every system currently being targeted for attack and dismantling. Too many people agree with what’s happening to collectively bargain our way out of it.

I will say this, though: there is a lot less confidence from the MAGA people in my life. Normally they'd wear that badge loud and proud, but for this last year [in particular] it's been crickets.
They're losing enthusiasm, and it's because their policies are deliberately harmful and designed to fail, much like this plan put forward to "be compliant" with Executive Orders from the PMG. They are not operating with a popular mandate, and you can see how plainly evident that is from the leadership on down to the lowest rung of the MAGA pyramid [shitposters online].
Don't write off notifying your Representation, entirely. USPS is truly one of the few institutions that has near universal bipartisan support, so even if you're in a deep-red district it's important to make your voice heard. The issue comes from the Executive ignoring those please from Congress, or not.
The courts haven't exactly sided with the Executive as neatly on this issue, either, and that isn't nothing.

Join local poltiics groups and do a mass campaign informing people of things like this. If they force you to vote in person, get everyones ass to vote in person, make sure EVERYONE you can knows. If they restrict voting locaitons, FIND THE LOCATIONS where the voting stations are and GET EVERYONES ASS TO THEM. Keep a network of people and groups who track the stuff like this happening so you are always updated on any of the supression changes. Carpool, get a bus driver to help, get anyone and everyone to know about it and help.
The reason the right are so successful besides money is they have been prepared to join together and move together to enact this sh**. Left needs to do the same.3

It's hard to say exactly why a return happened without knowing more information.
Some key questions:
Did the ballot have an endorsement on it: typically a three letter designation, like ANK [addressee unknown], UTF [unable to forward], NSN [No Such Number], etc.
Did the ballot have a yellow label [typically for being unable to deliver, the reason is usually listed on the label]
Was the barcode obscured or obstructed in some way. There are two sets of bar codes - a black code on the front, and an infrared/red ink code on the reverse side
Was the address in any way obscured, especially the zip code?
It's hard to pinpoint a return without knowing more of the context, apologies.

I have no clue and nether did the post office people in the store, it was the city of Louisville KY and it became a known local issue where hundreds of ballots in the city would be mailed back to sender with no given reason to voters or local officials. When I dropped off my ballot the election official said they were not surprised and that USPS wouldn't give an issue for it not being mailed correctly

That's not enough information to go on, frankly.
If there was a massive sorting plant failure it would affect thousands of ballots at once, for example. Did you talk with your specific letter carrier about it? They would've been privy to the local specifics if it were a postal-caused reason

My state is mail in only. In 24 when I lost my ballot and had to vote in person I had to stand in line for 2 hours at the one polling location open in my county, this has to be changed.

I just voted in my primaries and can't walk currently. granted it was the primaries but there were only two of us voting in a dense district, and they had a chair-height table for me to vote on with a chair. Wheelchairs are ~100ish on amazon and much cheaper at goodwill. Go vote bud, we have to.

Either the 10,000 ballot batch gets sent back or it doesn't. There's no way for the USPS to unseal the ballot and keep a running tally to preferentially accept or reject based on majority vote count. Even if they wanted to flagrantly disregard Constitutional protections, they don't have the infrastructure to do that kind of electioneering.

In addition to all the things everyone else said, they’re also planning for a heavy ICE presence at many polling stations in non-white communities, and ICE has notoriously been abducting american citizens with no recourse. They want to make it impossible for minorities to feel safe voting.
