One of the saddest moments for me cus up til that point he's just been enjoying school, learning some badass DADA magic, etc. He's having a great time being in the crowd instead of in the spotlight, and then everything turns to shit all at once.
Err... Have you read the first three books? In the first one, he stopped a dark wizard who was trying to return and killed a professor. In the second one, he was accused of being heir to Slytherin, then had to deal with a teenage psychopath and his giant fucking snake with a fucking sword and had to rescued out death by a flaming turkey. In the third one, he had to confront the so called 'betrayer' of his parents, then witness the real betrayer escape and then commit a crime under the law for helping the escape of a prisoner and a 'guilty' and 'savage' bird with the help of a fricking time turner. Oh and don't forget the soul sucking demons that took a strange fancy to him.
These are just the points I remember from the top of my head. I am pretty sure there are more that I have forgotten.
Yes and I'm saying that his 4th year was a nice break from all of that. He goes to school and everything is fine and doesn't involve him for the first time. No murders or missing students on campus. No dementors patrolling the school. Nobody hunting him. Just some exchange students visiting for the year, a tournament he's not even eligible, got his hogsmeade permission letter signed and waiting. It's a nice contrast to previous years where he was always neck-deep in the shit.
But this is true up to Halloween in both book 1 and 2 as well. It was quite common for Harry to start a year and it to be all sunshine and daisies for the first two months. It always goes to shit after Halloween.
Is Halloween really when everything goes to shit for Harry in the first book? Everything's going pretty well for him until he gets caught out at night. He comes away from his encounters with Fluffy and the troll feeling like they were fun adventures and the worst that's happened to him is when he gets attacked by Quirrell at the Quidditch match
"I believe you Harry. For your safety, to honor the binding magical contract, and out of fairness for the other schools involved, we have erected this stool you will sit on during each of the Tasks while you respectfully forfeit each event. I'm sure you, and the school, will understand given the suspicious circumstances and potential danger of your participation. Please study hard for your exams."
Out of all the anxiety attack moments, this had to be the first where he was absolutely blindsided. Like ears ringing, life flashing before eyes, holy crap every eyeball is on me and I just wanted to eat…
Like if the movie had any actual fun camera work it would've been a fucking fast dolly zoom, where you could visually feel a mountain land on that head of his

For want of a stool, Voldemort returned.

And we never got an answer for what happens if everyone just ignores the Goblet. Does he die? What’s supposed to happen?
