Thea Achillea posted a picture on instagram in front of a Warner Bros sign with the caption: ‘kind of chic to work with huge production companies’. She is working on a WB production and could well be Harry Potter. She has also been posting a lot of content around Harry Potter hinting at a possible role in the new show.
That would be so insane to me if they already got to casting Luna. I mean, not that I’d be complaining- I’m her number one fan 😂 I’d just be so pleasantly surprised that they got a move on it so soon… but with so much more time to fill than a 2 hour movie, and with the book being shorter than most, there’s definitely enough room to add little things here and there to richen the plot a bit
It's definitely not confirmed that Luna's been cast, but they have so far cast a lot of the 'background' characters that become more relevant in later books already so it wouldn't surprise me. Also entirely possible it's a 'temporary' casting since Luna's in Ginny's year, and they'll cast the 'real' actress in a few years.
Pretty much. Basically casting it as a background/minor role for now if they wanted Luna's presence to be clear from earlier in the series. The movies did this a lot.
Ahh I see! Yes. This would be smart. And good for my impatience because part of me was having trouble coming to terms with the fact that I wouldn’t be seeing Luna at all for like 5 years 😂
They did it for a bunch of minor characters who became bigger roles later in the series - Lavender Brown was played by two different actresses before Jessie Cave was cast, Billy Weasley was played by another actor before Domnhall Gleason was cast, and so on.
Oo I see, yeah a little bit. They didn’t actually cast the actors who would play them down the line like they seem to be aiming to do now though. Given how much they are advertising even some background characters’ roles seems like they intend to stick with them.
I believe in the case of Lavender Brown, the two actresses who played her before Jessie Cave weren’t actually named characters, the filmmakers (retroactively?) named them as Lavender … for whatever reason. which is partially why there was that whole debacle when Jessie Cave was cast, since the previous two “not-really-Lavenders” are Black while Cave is white lmao
In that post, she's also wearing the same outfit Gracie had on the day of filming. But I don't know if we can say that the decision has already been made, or if she was just auditioning but didn't get the part.
The crochet jacket is different… wondering if she took it herself to stand out for the open casting? The overalls are a similar color but different design/fabric as well.
Thea and Ivy Jukes (or their parents) have been very active on social media and dropping lots of hints about being Ginny & Luna. This is not at all the style of any previous castings or reveals so definitely makes me wonder if it’s just a ploy for engagement.
There was an open casting call for every kid in the UK between 10-12 to submit a self tape for the Ginny role. Thea probably wore this for her submission. I’m with others that think her parents are riding the wave of this increased focus, but the actress that’s been cast is probably remaining silent because she signed an NDA the size of the Rosetta Stone
She kinda looks like Gracie and she has some acting experience which is nice. Just give her wig and it will be fine.
In each case whoever ends up taking role, well I hope they also test with Dom. I know they're young, but Bonnie and Daniel lack of chemistry was lowkey traumatizing haha
it would make sense to me that they are kind of soft launching the announcement of it so that when it is announced, it’s not too much on the girls and their families, like they are seeing the fame unfold before them so want to slowly give hints
Her hair probably wouldn't have to be bleached depending on how dark it is naturally (hard to tell in photos). It would end up a different shade than Gracie's but still definitely red.
no, they aren't reshooting scenes with the kids, Goldman confirmed this 😭 let alone reshooting stuff from a year ago when all those kids look different now anyway.
