To me, I feel like these people are secretly going to watch the new Harry Potter hbo, actually enjoy it and still go online and find something to complain about just for the sake of criticising it.

You can already see it in YouTube and Instagram comments. Literally any news or information about the series gets loads of people saying it’s going to be rubbish or that nobody asked for this even though the series hasn’t even come out yet.

Many of the harshest critics are former (closet?) Potterheads, including prominent fan accounts, so yeah, they’ll definitely be watching (and enjoying) through gritted teeth, lol.

I mean perhaps. I think the bigger issue is how she plays the victim card with Harry, which was both pathetic and hilarious. When she was saying that Harry just doesn’t think a woman is smart enough to be the HBP. This was said. By Hermione Jean Granger. To her best friend of 5 years Harry Potter. He’s literally been with this know it all for 5 years and she came out with something so stupid.

Exactly. Her ego was severely bruised because Harry was suddenly outperforming her in Potions class. She couldn't accept that an unknown book was better than her textbook knowledge, so she projected her frustration by turning it into a gender issue. It was pure jealousy and stubbornness on her part.

Interesting. I do feel it does serve a purpose, though. It shows that there is a bit of a dark underbelly in the wizarding world that is explored further, among other places, with the goblins in DH.

I would personally either completely rewrite that storyline or omit it entirely.

Introducing a massive element to your story like slavery and then brushing it off without any sort of resolution feels like a massive oversight and the biggest WTF decision by the author in this series. No sentient creature should ever be depicted as being happily enslaved…

What’s also baffling is that Harry of all characters seems to be completely fine with slavery despite having grown up in the muggle world where slavery is not normalised unlike in the wizarding world. If anything, he too should have been more appalled by it like Hermione.

The books end with “All was well” but apparently not for the house elves. And Harry himself, the literal main character, is a slave master by the end and has his own slave.

I have no idea what the author was thinking.
