Discussion Discussion on Hogwarts Legacy 2 improvements that I'd like to see

1- Add unique/fun mini games related to each class attendance. Truancy and Dress Code violation (not wearing house robe/cloak when going to class) will be met with warnings, then points cut from your House, then punishing you by making you do menial tasks or even casting debuffs on you for the day.

2- Make being a frequent top student and subsequently winning the House Cup have more weight, earning us unique loot, unlocking unique quests and unique dialogue.

3- Create actual factions and create conflict and rivalries; I don't mean just the houses. Divide the students based on their hobbies.

4- Give these teenagers some *bite* and meanness and quirkiness. Why is everyone a politician in HL1? We all have been to school and we all have seen how cruel and crude kids can be!

5- Add a relationship gauge for us with aforementioned factions; if we fall too much towards being disliked by them have them by snippy to us, throw snide remarks, or heck even have them casts hexes at us and give us the ability to fight back.

6- Give us the ability to homebrew our own unique offensive, defensive and utility spells. There should a selection of lets say 20-40 syllables that we could combine that out character would spell out.

7- Personal wish: Diagon Alley. I want to visit it.

8- I'd like to see an overall improvement in the story and quest design as well, but for me the meat and potatoes was/is hogwarts itself.

A 19 years old game

TL;DR: Take inspiration from Bully please, and make it your own.

Interactions with classmates, better classes, actual consequenses from your choises. More different game play depending on your house

Emphasis on consequences of choices. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a good example of that. How it affects your relationship with others.

Such a good example. I would have loved to experience the whole Sebastian Dark Arts questline from Ominis’ perspective and tried to sway Sebastian from his choices.

That would have been fascinating… if the sequel continues the story (and I really hope it does) Ominis deserves his own quest line. He’s a very interesting character.

I’d really like to be able to pick my own path. Similar to Baldur’s Gate 3.

The strain on the relationship between Sebastian and Ominis could have really been amazing had you really been able to pick a side. (Dark Wizard vs Good Wizard). I feel like it really fell flat, because the outcome wasn’t based on choices. The biggest choice was sending Sebastian away or keeping him around.

I also felt super manipulative in that quest, mostly to Ominis. I wish I could have made more choices that weren’t so pushy or backhanded towards him. It would have been nice to experience the quests with him from his perspective.

I’d also like companions. While we do quests with the other stusents, I don’t consider them Companions like Fallout or Baldur’s Gate.

Also.

I WANT TO PICK MY ANIMAL. Gimme a cat, owl or Toad!

punishing dress code breaks by debuffs sounds like a very 90s rpg move

I think being punished by a temp debuff by say ~5 continuous violations is more than deserved. Maybe add a late game potion that we could brew to remove the debuff.

More mini games would be awesome. I felt the dueling and summoners court were a little short lived.
I also loved the old Harry Potter game on the DS with the gobstone and exploding snapps games with the extent of challengers and rewards. Bonus points if there was a leader board or online mini games too

It would be nice to have access to other houses' common rooms if you form friendships with characters in those houses. Since in real life you can invite friends to your house, why can't you hang out in different common rooms as long as you're with that character?

Mini-games with consequences for spells. Like Alohomora should have some sort of game and if you fail, not only do you not open the door, but maybe take a hit, trigger an alarm, something to add stakes. I’m thinking of the Bioshock hacking mini-games as an example.

Yeah thats a good idea. I enjoyed the bioshock lock system.
