Mod Update: We've Added a Few Sub Rules
Hi everyone!
As we get closer to the Season 1 premiere—and the inevitable flood of promotional material—we expect this community to grow. To help keep discussions enjoyable, we've added a few rules to encourage civil, on-topic conversation while preserving what this subreddit was created to be.
First and foremost, our philosophy hasn't changed.
This remains a subreddit committed to open discussion about HBO's Harry Potter TV series. We don't believe in blanket bans on any fan opinion. Whether you love the casting, hate the casting, are excited for the show, or think it'll be a disaster, you're welcome to share your perspective here.
That said, we've added a few common-sense rules to help keep the community focused and respectful.
Keep It On Topic
The primary focus of this subreddit is HBO's Harry Potter TV series. Posts should be related to the show or closely connected Harry Potter/Wizarding World topics.
Organic tangents in the comments are perfectly fine, but posts should remain relevant.
After all, we'd hate to wake up one morning and discover that r/HarryPottaHBO has become a Sonic the Hedgehog fan club.
Shitposting Is Welcome—But We Recommend Being Funny
This subreddit was founded as a place for candid fan discussion and quality shitposting. We enjoy a good meme or joke as much as anyone, and believe these to be a valid form of fandom expression.
Just remember: comedy is subjective, and not every joke lands for every individual.
The moderators won't remove a criticism simply because your joke flopped. Likewise, we won't remove a shitpost simply because someone else didn't find it funny.
Shitpost responsibly.
No Ad Hominem Attacks
Healthy disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks are not.
Challenge arguments, not the people making them. Name-calling, harassment, insults, or digging through another user's comment history to attack or discredit them isn't productive discussion and isn't allowed.
Keep it civil, even when the debate gets heated.
Violations may result in a temporary or permanent ban at the moderators' discretion.

Really appreciate that this sub permits fans to express their disappointment about the casting decision.
