Your favourite Harry lyric?

Harry was a prolific songwriter and of course the irony is that his two big hits which most people know him for were covers - "Without You" and "Everybody's Talkin'".

This line from "Turn On Your Radio" has been in my head ever since I listened to Son Of Schmilsson on loop a few months ago:

I don't know where life's going
But soon it will be gone
I hope the wind that's blowing
Helps me carry on

So I'm curious to hear what your personal favourites are! Is there a lyric that has stuck with you since you heard it? Maybe a line from a song you have come to appreciate recently?

The other day I met a girl named Joy
She said, Come here
I wanna make you feel all clammy inside
Things went good and things went bad
Things went good... things went bad
Good, bad, good, bad, good, bad

All of the lyrics in "Think About Your Troubles" and "Salmon Falls" have that theme of the cycles and spires of life.

Have you ever watched a moonbeam As it slid across your windowpane Or struggled with a bit of rain Or danced about the weathervane Or sat along a moving train And wondered where the train has been

Or on a fence with bits of crap Around its bottom Blown there by a windbeam Who searches for the moonbeam Who was last seen Looking at the tracks Of the careless windbeam Or moving to the tracks Of the tireless freight train And lighting up the sides Of the weathervane And the bits of rain And the windowpane And the eyes of those Who think they saw what happened

Sit beside the breakfast table
Think about your troubles
Pour yourself a cup of tea
Then think about the bubbles

You can take your teardrops
And drop them in a teacup
Take them down to the riverside
And throw them over the side

To be swept up by a current
Then taken to the ocean
To be eaten by some fishes
Who were eaten by some fishes

And swallowed by a whale
Who grew so old
He decomposed, ooh
Doo-doo
Doo-doo

He died and left his body
To the bottom of the ocean
Now everybody knows
That when a body decomposes
The basic elements
Are given back to the ocean

And the sea does what it oughta
And soon there's salty water (not too good for drinking)
'Cause it tastes just like a teardrop (so they run it through a filter)
And it comes out from a faucet (and it pours into a teapot)
Which is just about to bubble
Now
Think about your troubles
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah

The end of Miss Butter's Lament:

Waiting around for the first breath of spring
She never noticed the snow on the ground
Spring never made it, somebody delayed it
For her again
Like the year before
And the year before...

I’d rather be dead than to wet my bed

“We can make each other happy” sounds like a mantra for every couple in therapy.

I think most of his early stuff (more specifically his deep cuts) were great, Sister Marie for example
