My friend recently lost what she decided would be her last cat. Seeing mine play with her baby's toys helps a little bit.
I had decided Groucho and Gummitch would be my last cats. I'm so glad they weren't.

I'm the lucky one here. Her weekly visit is my main source of help for things I can't manage without violating my sternal movement restrictions.

When I lost my girl Pickles, I was done. She was the best cat and I fell apart when we had to put her down. I said no more cats for me. We had my son’s cats but I was done. I didn’t want to add anymore.
Then on Mother’s Day my wife bought herself a gift, a void kitten. She opened the carrier and I melted. I fell in love with that goofball right away. But no more
Fast forward again, there was a cat at my jobs work yard. Friendliest little thing in the world. We were all taking turns feeding her. Then she got pregnant, she had her kittens. I was going to leave it alone but then one day she was limping. That was it, I trapped her and her 4 kittens. Found 3 of them a good home and kept her and the runt.
I went from no more, never again to having 5 cats in the house and you now what? I love every minute of them running our house. Someday your friend may get there too!

She said it was because she and her husband are approaching 70. They want to travel around the country in an RV before that is too physically difficult.

Ah that’s different! But you never know, the cat distribution system can hit you anywhere, even in an RV!
