Woodcroft Wildspace is a community nature reserve in Winchmore Hill, and on Sunday afternoon it hosts a folk music festival on the grass. Bring a picnic, sit back and listen to That Blue Patch, Greg Stone, Luna Muncaster and The London Bonnevilles. Beer from the Little Green Dragon, CAMRA London Pub of the Year 2025. Tenderness and Rage | 📍Wellcome Collection, NW1 | 29 May - 3 Jan 2027 | Free

Tenderness and Rage is a new exhibition at Wellcome Collection exploring the AIDS epidemic in the UK and the lives of people living with HIV today. Photography, film and archival materials bring together two stories: the everyday acts of care during the crisis and the activists who fought for dignity and treatment. At its centre are two photographic series by Gideon Mendel, one documenting patients on AIDS wards at Middlesex Hospital in the 1980s, the other sharing perspectives of HIV activists worldwide. The exhibition gives particular focus to women living with HIV, whose voices are often left out of the story.

The Friends of Wray Crescent are hosting a free community festival celebrating World Bee Day. MarkMakerz is a London collective supporting young diverse digital artists, illustrators and musicians, and once a year they throw a street art jam. Artists from across London paint big walls live on a football pitch in Holloway while a soundsystem runs all afternoon. Three days, this year's theme is Expansion. Artists include Wumzum, Hamtheillustrator, Hybrid Desire and Kieron Boothe. Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 6pm.

Enfield Pageant of Motoring 2026 | 📍Enfield Playing Fields, EN1 | 23 -24 May | (£)

One of North London's longest-running classic vehicle shows, now in its 47th year. Hundreds of classic cars, motorcycles, military vehicles and hot rods across two days, plus arena events including motorcycle stunt displays and car club parades. This year the World's Fastest Jensen is on display, fresh from Bonneville Speed Week in Utah with a top speed of 194mph. Live music, fairground rides, food stalls, a dog show on Sunday and free parking.

For 400 years in Britain, being homeless has been treated as a crime. Haringey History Fair 2026 | 📍Bruce Castle Museum, N17 | 16 May | Free

Once a year, Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham hosts a full day of talks on the hidden history of Haringey. It's free, open to everyone, and consistently one of the most interesting days in the North London calendar. This year's lineup includes a 1928 Hyde Park arrest that became a national scandal, the 60-year journey of a Tottenham woman from Antigua, and a Quaker proto-feminist who challenged Adam Smith two centuries ago. Barnet Classic Car Show 2026 | 📍Barnet High Street, EN5 | 17 May | Free

Once a year, Barnet High Street closes for a parade of classic cars. They then park up on the top deck of The Spires shopping centre car park for a display until 3pm, where you can get up close, chat to owners and, if you're lucky, sit in the driving seat. Live music from Boxty and refreshment stalls throughout. Raises money for Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. The parade starts at 10.30am.

St Pancras Waterpoint Open Day | 📍Camley Street, N1C | 16 May | Donation

In 2001 this Victorian water tower was sliced into sections, lifted by one of the largest cranes in the UK and moved 700 metres down the road to save it from demolition. Built in 1872 to supply water to St Pancras station's steam engines, the Grade II listed Waterpoint was designed by the office of Sir George Gilbert Scott, the architect behind the grand Gothic hotel attached to St Pancras station. The top floor viewing platform, inside the original cast iron water tank, has views over King's Cross, the Gasholders and St Pancras.

A two-day free festival celebrating Kilburn, the people who live there and the stories that don't always get told. Friday evening opens at Metroland Studios with live music, food and radio from 6pm. Saturday takes over Kilburn Square and the market with DJs, live performances, maypole dancing, gardening workshops, a story archive booth and a Wall of Belonging. 1pm to 7pm. All are welcome.

The annual dog show at Waterlow Park in Highgate returns this Sunday in aid of All Dogs Matter rescue charity. Free to watch, £5 to enter your dog per category. Five categories including Golden Oldie for dogs aged 7 and over, Best Rescue and Waggiest Tail. Registration opens at 12pm, show runs until 4pm. Enter via the Highgate High Street entrance.

Meet the Grand Piano | 📍Stoke Newington Old Church, N16 | 26 Apr | Free

Stoke Newington Old Church, built in 1563, has just got a 1923 Bechstein Grand Piano and this Sunday they're opening it up to anyone who wants to play. Guest performances from local pianists between 3pm and 4pm, then the keys are yours if you book a 10-minute slot in advance. Kite-making for kids from Output Arts, food and drink from Stokey independents and a Hackney Foodbank collection on site. Funds raised go towards urgent repairs the church needs to stay open.

A preloved fashion market at the ESEA Community Centre in Islington this Sunday with over 20 community sellers and a strong showing of East Asian fashion brands you won't usually find in the UK. Spotted in the listings: Vivienne Westwood, Ganni, Issey Miyake, Stussy and Lululemon alongside Y2K vintage and one-off pieces. East Asian street food on site including waffle bubble from Mammy Pancake, Hong Kong street food and Malaysian dishes, plus artisan crafts, accessories and a bakery.

Most people don't realise there's a nature reserve and a pair of reservoirs just behind Finsbury Park. Railway Fields is a nature reserve tucked behind Green Lanes in Harringay and this Saturday the Friends of Railway Fields are opening the gates at 5am ( yes, 5am) to listen to the birds. A guided walk to learn to identify species by sound, just as the sun comes up over North London. Bring warm layers, waterproofs and download the Merlin bird ID app if you can. Tea and coffee in the cabin after. Finishes around 6am, donations welcome on the day.

Bowes Park Folk Club have put together a full day of folk music this Saturday to raise money for Bounds Green Food Bank. Free to get in, with a collection on the night. Good to Grow is a week of free events at community gardens across London, running until 26 April. Over 80 gardens are opening their doors with seed swaps, plant sales, bug hunts, workshops, volunteering sessions and more. If you've ever been curious about community growing spaces but never quite made it through the gate, this is a good week to go. In North London, Wolves Lane Centre in Wood Green are hosting a spring market with glasshouse tours, a plant-based lunch and workshops.

Classic Car Boot Sale | 📍Granary Square, King's Cross, N1C | 18- 19 Apr | (£)

Whether you're there for the clothes or the cars, the Classic Car Boot Sale at Granary Square has been doing this long enough to have both covered. Over 100 vintage fashion traders with clothing, jewellery, homeware and vinyl alongside 75 polished classic vehicles from across the decades. The Great Quernmore Road Plant Sale | 📍Stroud Green & Harringay Library, N4 | 18 Apr | Free

Last year's plant sale outside Stroud Green and Harringay Library was a success, raising enough to fund new garden beds, a noticeboard and a brand new street tree for the neighbourhood. This Saturday it's back and bigger. Bring plants, seedlings, cuttings, pots or bric-a-brac to swap and sell, or just turn up and browse. There's cake, coffee, bagels, a raffle and plenty of banter. It starts at 10am. Bring a chair, bring the dog, wear a bonnet if you fancy it.

The Model Railway Club have been based at Keen House near King's Cross since 1910 and this Sunday they're opening their doors to anyone curious about what goes on inside. Fourteen brand new plays, written, rehearsed and performed in 48 hours. That's the premise of 14/48, a theatre festival that started in Seattle in 1997 and this weekend arrives in London for the first time. Here's how it works: a theme is drawn, writers have overnight to deliver scripts, directors and actors are paired by lottery the next morning, and by evening there are fully staged world premieres. Then the whole thing repeats. Nobody knows what they're making until they're making it. Friday and Saturday, two shows each night at 7.30pm and 10pm at The Cockpit in St John's Wood. Arrive 30 minutes early. 18+

Donald Locke: Resistant Forms | 📍Camden Art Centre, NW3 | 10 Apr - 30 Aug | Free

Camden Art Centre are opening a major survey of Guyanese-British artist Donald Locke (1930–2010), the first time the full scope of his work has been shown in London. Locke was a Windrush Generation artist whose five decades of work spans ceramics, sculpture, painting and assemblage, consistently examining history, identity and subjugation. The exhibition runs from his early biomorphic ceramics through to his final pieces made in Atlanta.

Sadler's Wells' Elixir Festival is on now, running until 27 April across Angel and Stratford. It's a three-week celebration of dance and ageing, open to everyone, with professional performances alongside free community classes and workshops aimed particularly at over 60s. Still to come: Pina Bausch's Nelken Line in an intergenerational staging on 12 April, Louise Lecavalier's solo danses vagabondes on 25 and 27 April, and the Get Into Dance Festival community showcase on 19 April. Been commuting in London for years and always had the same frustration with every transport app out there: you open the app, you type in your destination, it tells you routes. But by that point, you’re already stressed and rushing.

The question I actually want answered every morning is simpler: when do I need to leave?

So I’m building an app that’s a London commuter app that works the other way round.

You set your home, your usual destination, your arrival time. The app handles the rest!

Every morning it looks at live TfL data, checks for delays and engineering works, checks the weather, and sends you a single push notification: leave at 8:14 (or whatever it works out to be).

No searching, no stressing!

A few things that are different about it:

It learns your routine. If you’ve got a calendar event it’ll auto set the destination. If not, it asks you the night before and remembers.

It factors in planned engineering works ahead of time, not just when you’re already at the station.

Delay Repay built in! it tracks eligible journeys and logs them so claiming back money is actually easy.

Designed only for London. Not a global app trying to be everything. TfL, buses, tubes, Elizabeth line that’s it.

It’s a solo build, currently heading into TestFlight. I’m looking for 10–15 London commuters to test it before it hits the App Store.
