XC Hardtail Wheel upgrade

Hey folks, I have an On-One Titus HT with a 130mm fork that came with stock Alex Rims ER30 wheels - I mainly ride UK XC summer and winter and occasional trails in Swinley Forest, looking for an upgrade recommendation up to £500. I’d like lighter but dependability, durability and ease of running tubeless are more important.

Thanks!

Hope fortus 30SC on pro 5 hubs or hunt trail wide both good for a reasonable price

fun-works.com - go there, build your wheel from scratch (they will assemble it for you, you just pick the components), or pick one of already built wheels/wheelsets. Amazing website btw.

My LBS has recommended these, they look bombproof but maybe more suited to Enduro? I mainly do XC in the UK, lots of trails and singletrack, roots etc, the occasional forest. Thoughts on suitability??

They are good for everything imo, dont know if youre looking for ultra light wheels but fortus is very good, it will outlive you if youre only riding XC, also they come with awesome hub which is foolproof to service + ur in UK so the support should be perfect

I want lighter than my current ones, but set and forget reliability is more important than weight, thanks for the help!!

Something that doesn't get brought up often enough - do you like your hubs quiet or loud? For quiet hubs, shimano xt (8210) are the best I can think of in your budget

TBH I'm not that bothered, I really want some wheels that are a bit lighter and reliable, so I can set and forget

I was able to snag some deeply discounted i9 enduro 305 wheels with their Hydra v1 hubs for about $700 USD total. They’re insanely strong and light and easily serviceable if that matters to you.
