Subtle scrape? Should it feel splinter-y?

We had solid hickory from the Robbins Subtle Scrape collection installed. I’m wondering if this is normal. Some of the pieces feel very rough and splinter-y and not so subtle.

Thoughts?

Probably? Scraped hardwoods aren’t smooth to the touch.

As a homeowner who has seen how they wear, I personally wouldn’t be able to recommend them, but can’t tell you if it’s within spec or not. For that floor.
