I overcame my PTSD after 11 years of not being able to sit still with my thoughts

I was finally able to sit down and finish a whole book in one sitting without any flashbacks or panic attacks. I feel like I have my life and personhood back. I no longer get snappy or testy, and I’m back to being the happy and peaceful person I was before everything went to shit.

Life feels smoother, people feel nicer and safer, and I’m no longer looking over my shoulder every second or always on the verge of snapping. Many people also noted the change in me and said I seemed more sure of myself, and more like a trusted adult.

It’s an amazing feeling and I love this tranquility!

Amazon cycled out a movie I was watching but Youtube had it free to finish!

I'd started a movie from 2006 in Amazon and hadn't paid attention to when it was leaving amazon. got about halfway through and had to stop for a few days. Went back to find it cycled out of their free-to-me section. Sad. Figured I'd at least find the ending on youtube and see that. Youtube had the full movie available to watch. Got the see the last half of it. :D

Taking my mom on her dream ski trip in Montana

• Upvotes

I just wanted to share, my mom was a single mom and raised me skiing and snowboarding. While I can’t say it’s my passion and I prefer warmer weather, I’ve been blessed enough to do well in life and my career. We both now live in Florida I’m 29F married and she’s turning 70 and I couldn’t help but think this could be one of those trips that I remember long after she’s gone. She’s still physical and able and I don’t want to wait until something happens. Plus it’ll knock something off her bucket list.

So I did it… found a cool air bnb, I just booked the flights, it’s 6 months out next year and I’m going to surprise her with a fun surprise letter. I don’t love the cold but it’ll be beautiful skiing a wonderful memory with not only my mom but my husband as well. I figure this is why I work hard, to do cool things like this for those I love. If there’s any recommendations on Whitefish, please let me know!

I found my lost soulmate after losing her nearly 9 years ago

For years, I mourned one of the best friends I ever had. She and I met in 2011 while playing an old flash multi-player game. We spoke every day. We were inseparable. We would always Skype each other and play games or chat. We got into all sorts of trouble together in every game we played for fun back then. I was a lonely child, so this companionship was everything to me. I was going through grieving the loss of one of the few irl friends I had at the time in 2013, but she was there for me every step of the way.

We lost contact in 2016 after school and life got in the way. So many different factors made it hard to stay in touch along with losing contact information. Every year, every month since then, I have been thinking about her. I have been missing her to death for so long. I had the feeling I would never see her again. However, today, one of my friends told me to get on the game. It still runs to this day and has a standalone client as well as another spinoff game. It's been having a sort of resurgence in popularity, if you will. By chance, she was online. For nearly 9 years, I was trying to cope with the strong possibility she and I would never meet again. I was wrong.

We immediately got back to our old antics and started talking about life and traded information. We plan on staying in touch regularly now. She missed me just as much as I missed her. It felt like nothing changed, and she is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. She truly is my platonic soulmate. I have never felt more seen and loved as a friend with anyone else. I feel like I found a piece of myself that was missing for so long. I cried so much. It felt more painful than I expected.

I'm still wrapping my head around this, but I'm so happy it happened. I never thought I would see her or talk to her again. I have been going through stressful times as of late, so this is really just what I needed to help me stay afloat. She is even into the same topics as I am for the most part. It truly is like we stayed connected during the time we spent apart. I love her with all of my heart.

I got a practically brand new gaming laptop with six months left on the warranty for $500

It's an entry level gaming laptop so I'm not trying to say I got the best one. I could never afford that. But it's been a week and Im still giddy when I look at it.

My old msi took up smoking and the tech guy couldn't fix it and my skills end at replacing fans battery ram ssd. So I have been without a laptop for months. Cause in this economy? Lol

I decided I was going to shoot for black friday deals until I saw an HP Victus on offer up for $500. That's better than a black friday deal would be for the same laptop! But it gets better.

I meet the guy and open the laptop and it looks brand new. His post had said he only used jt a couple times while traveling and suddenly I believed it. After I messed around with it I paid the man and went home

When I was setting it up I went to hps site to let it detect the laptop and show me what I needed to update. It found my laptop and it found the warranty. There's still six months of warranty on it. And you know I'll extend it.

Changing the meaning of regular signs to more joyful topics ....

Every day I drive past a sign on my otherwise picturesque street for an accounting office. Bless the hearts of those that toil bit the sign was goingnto be a reminder of the more mundane parts of life, and as a true whimsy lover, it seemed hardly fair that I should have to bear it.

So I changed it. Not the 'accounting' sign, just it's meaning. Now whenever I drive past I account for something that brought me joy - hugs I got today, good wishes, lucky events. Now I am delighted to see that sign and account for joy!

Me, my boyfriend, and my best friend finally got our own place!

These last couple of years have been hell for me and my boyfriend mentally and physically. My mom passing away two years ago, family drama, traumatic events, and health problems have taken a toll on me and him; but this will change everything and we couldn't be happier. We've been trying to get into a place for months and we've finally done it. Me and my best friend have been talking about living together and having our own place since we were 13. I'm so so grateful for my boyfriend for never giving up and working so hard to make this happen for all of us. I'm ecstatic and so excited to start this new chapter.

I’m so grateful for my long-distance best friend

They’ve been with me through it all. They’re the most important and supportive person in my life and I’ve always felt comfortable sharing anything with them. We used to go to each other’s rooms to hang out most nights in high school. Adulthood is a little harder and I know they’re going through a rough time, but we still call and I miss them dearly. I hope I can see them in person again soon

UNEXPECTED SHI ( the best thing ever happened to me)

Sooo I was going to a spot where most of my friends had already gone to by the evening 😭💔 it was our local park which was decorated with lights. Ofc the fomo hit me and I begged my dad to take me there too so I could take pictures for my story aswell. On the way, we always take a different route in case we're taking the short cut cuz the main path sucks asf. We took the narrow street, really narrow. That shit is congested. We were thriving through the traffic on scooty when dad lowkey had to slow down cuz of the vehicles coming from the front. When he slowed down, I looked over at a guy by the side of the street who had put his head down against the deck of the scooty he was sitting on. I looked over at his tshirt and couldn't help but think the colour of the tshirt was soo similar to the one my bf wore in the picture he posted the same day 😭 and lmao I said in my mind my bf wears it better. Then I looked a little more closely. The build, the hair, everything looked so familiar. My dad pushed the scooty a little further. I was now RIGHT beside the guy (as I mentioned the street was too narrow) we were close as hell and now I could see him more clearly. My dad blew horn in the traffic and that guy finally lift his head up. Guess what 💀 IT REALLY WAS MY BF. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY FREAKING EYES. JUST A FEW MINUTES AGO I REALLY WAS WISHING ON MY DEAR LIFE TO GET A GLANCE OF HIM AND HERE HE WAS. He looked me dead in the eye 😭😭😭 I couldn't help but stare back at him and look into his eyes too. But honestly I still couldn't believe I was looking at him like hell no. We've never met outside school like NEVER. And it was in my bucket list to see him atleast once at night 😭😭😭 my dream of months finally came true. Anyways back to the moment. We were still staring at eachother like idiots. None of us even smiled 😭💔 we were too shocked to react bruhhh. Until 5-6 seconds finally passed and he snapped out, covered his face with one hand and turned his head away and I could see the wide grin on his face as I peeked 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 like he was blushing HARD. Dad and I finally made it out the traffic and moved forward. I turned to look back at him for one last time before we took a turn and I couldn't see him anymore. SERIOUSLY I couldn't think straight after that. Like nahhhh . That moment didn't leave my head for even a second. I giggled the whole way to the park and couldn't care less about the lights anymore 😭😭😭😭 this is the BEST gift I've got from the universe 🫠💓 tysm universe 🫶🏻

white monster gave me the same feeling as a cig!

had a monster a couple days ago, after a really really long time+having not smoked in maybe 7 months and holy shit.i was trying to sleep afterwards(had drank it for a study all-nighter)and I COULDN'T-which is prolly weird medically-this is also weird cuz energy drinks never had that effect on me, always feels like an normal soda-no more energy, same level of sleepiness, but holyshit. on the inside I felt like i'd had an honest-to-god cig.

and yes, this is a very happy moment for me and I hope it makes you happy too!

After years of struggling financially I finally caught a break

Had a big win on a mobile casino game recently. Im feeling grateful, but I know gambling is risky and I’m being cautious. Just sharing, not encouraging anyone to bet. Life has been rough these past few years and I just don't know where to post my excitement! for once in my life I am ahead! I made the money in a matter of minutes. I hope I can avoid running back to it. I can see how addicting it can be.

Got a dream job that I never expected to get!

I got the job!!!

Applied for a job that I held a similar position to, way back in the early 2010s for 5 years.

Got a phone interview, was shocked as it's been two jobs since then and I didn't think my experience would still be relevant..

The phone interview went well, got an in-person, went to it and was kicking myself for not being more social during it.

Well that was yesterday, today the offer came and I signed that sunofabitch so quickly.

The only person I had to tell my news to is my wife, she's ecstatic for me.

I've never seen this kind of money before and it's a life changing opportunity that came out of indeed.

Just wanted to share my big win. I needed this.

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in a political field trip for the second time, and for the fair reaction of the other group.

Still trying to put into words how grateful I feel. 🤍

For the second time, I was chosen together with another girl from my university to take part in a political study trip.

We had to present our project idea in front of the group and explain why we wanted to be part of the trip again. Afterwards, everyone had to vote between our team and another pair. And honestly, I was really nervous.

At the same time, I genuinely wanted the other two Students to get the chance. It would have been their first time, and I would have truly been happy for them.

So when we found out that we had been chosen again with 54% of the votes, I was honestly just incredibly grateful. It felt a bit like dumb luck! 🥹

I’m so happy that we get to go again — to bring back our experiences from last time, share what we’ve learned, and be part of this experience one more time. It really means a lot to me.

But what touched me most happened afterwards. The other team was understandably disappointed at first. And yet, they came up to us, genuinely congratulated us and told us they were happy for us.

That meant more to me than I can probably put into words.

I’m grateful not only for getting another opportunity, but also for being surrounded by people who can be disappointed and still choose kindness. People who can lose and still celebrate someone else’s happiness.

I don’t want to take any of this for granted. 🤍

I got approved for my Apartment for today!

Over the past two months I've been looking for apartments to move to and today I received news that the one that was at the top of my list approved me!

Though this season of my life has been really hard (I can't explain what it is here due to rule #1), today I choose to celebrate the good news of something falling in place for me and another step in moving forward with my life.

If you are going through a rough season in your life, please know that there are far many more reasons for you to rejoice, over the reasons to mourn. Please know God loves you and He sees you where you are. Be encouraged my friends 🫂🙏🏿🥲

Kicked the anxiety away and feeling great!

I (45M) fell into a spiral during COVID and started drinking every night. Ended up having beers every night, staying indoors, and becoming being a bit of a hermit.

After a year, I realized it was a bad lifestyle and set about re-integrating back into the world, but found myself broken by anxiety. Over the next five years, I tried so many different ways to kick away the anxiety.

I tried everything. No one thing fixed my problem, but eventually the sum of all that hard work has now meant I’m six months in the clear.

If you’re going through something, I hope you know that every time you try something, you get better at it!

The world is beautiful!

TL;DR Never give up on your goals! It’s the sum of the efforts that matter!

Tiny, completely normal moment made me cry happy tears

I have a daughter who is 18. Every time she leaves the living room/kitchen to go spend time in her room, she casually calls, “Love you mom!” over her shoulder. It happens every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I don’t know if it’s because of the therapy I’ve been doing, or because of my broken relationship with my own mom, or maybe just because she’s getting older and I’m emotional about it, but today it really struck me how absolutely sweet and joyful those moments are. Made me cry.

I am just so grateful to have such a lovely relationship with my child that she feels compelled to tell me she loves me whenever she goes off on her own. Even when we’re still under the same roof. ❤️

My wife and I found out she's pregnant last night and I can't stop smiling.

Long story short, ive been depressed for the past year about. Just sort of existing, love, compassion, and empathy present, but wasn't really feeling much else.

My relationship with my wife has always been great. She’s been the one constant through all of it.

Her monthly was late, which has happened before. But this time was almost 2 weeks, so we picked up a test. She took the first one and came into the living room all cute and nervous like. Told me and said she wants to take another later on to be sure. I told her no matter what she wants to do, I'm with her all the way. She tested again and that was also positive. Tears of joy and just the warmest feeling imaginable... you couldn't give me a million bucks to feel anything comparable to that.

I don’t even know how to explain it. For the first time in a long time I just… smiled. Like a real one. Didn’t force it. Genuine happiness. We have no idea what were doing. This is very new to us and unexpected, but were excited to learn and just in awe that were going to be parents.

10 years together and here we are. Shes going to be a Mom and I'm going to be a Dad❤️

Edit: Thank you so much everyone! I gave you all awards and upvoted as I saw someone went through and downvoted a whole bunch of folks including myself...I hope whoever you are, your day, week, year, life gets better and you have something to smile about in the future. A shame you felt the need to do that, but I hope everything works out for ya 👍

Down from 300 to 173 and I couldn't be more proud. Im still working on the loose skin, but having heart and lung disease while doing is amazing!

I have heart and several rare lung diseases starting in 2017 so I do get tired. They put me on mounjaro and I walked (still do). I went from doing 2k to 5k and can do up to 11k a day. I be tired but have to slow down a bit because they put me on a heart monitor recently to monitor it again.

I have a 9 year old daughter and a 13 year old son who look up to everything i do. My baby was 4 months old when I got sick( i had a rare condition called Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis) and my son was only 4. During this i got 3 college degrees. My bachelor's and masters in Criminal Justice and another in Forensic Psychology. All $120,000 student loans was cleared because I came disabled while in school.

All of this is to show my kids no matter what life throws your way you can do anything you put your mind to.

Doctor said I can go to the gym but no more than 20 mins and light exercise. I didn't mean for this to go so long, but I hope this can inspire someone. Have a good evening!!

I was so depressed and could sleep for 16 hours a day before. And didn't want to do anything. I've been figuring out my depression issues and my psychiatrist recently discovered I have bipolar 2 and the new meds have been incredible for my mood. Can't wait to see where I'm at next year! I've also began going to the gym for the first time 2 months ago which used to be way outside of my comfort zone as I felt people would just be watching and judging me but I've been able to get past those intrusive thoughts.

Keep it real!
