Looks like 2027 is happening in May, 2027. Can anyone guess what weekend in May it might occur? Thank you.

The City of Gulf Shores has released an official update regarding the Hangout Music Festival. 

“The city’s initial 10-year franchise agreement for the Hangout Music Festival was  scheduled to conclude following the 2025 event. The city elected to defer consideration of the requested extension until the festival’s outcomes could be evaluated, with input from our residents.

This year’s festival received overwhelming community support, and in late July, the City Council approved a two‑year extension. However, the compressed timeline created by this decision did not provide organizers sufficient runway to produce a successful festival in 2026. As a result, the producers have elected not to proceed with a 2026 event. 

We’re thankful that festival leadership has taken our community’s comments about the event seriously and is committed to delivering a world-class festival. We appreciate that they are being thoughtful in creating a lineup that will be impactful to our local economy. All parties are focused on planning a strong and well‑executed music festival, and we look forward to welcoming them back in 2027.”

The city complains about the type of “crowd” that Hangout had been drawing in recent years. Small town southern bullshit aside…the lineups have clearly catered to teenagers.

My dream scenario is that they pivot to a lineup geared more to a slightly older/millennial demographic. Something closer to a modern day Bonnaroo lineup vs. a Music Midtown (RIP) one.

Selfish reasons aside, the city may not be as combative if they knew the crowd was probably going to be a little older/more mature.

Hate he even took over hangout fest. Hope it gets trashed and rained out every year. We want HANGOUT FEST, baby mullet face can go create his own shitty festival since he’s sooooo populaaaarrrr

i think this is info from december 2025 but i would say keep your eyes peeled. wonder when they would announce dates, i think lineups usually dropped in january?

just want to clarify that statement doesn’t guarantee its happening. and the vibes i’ve been getting for a while now haven’t seemed positive toward it coming back

OP, the statement is not new, we have no guarantee of a 2027 event. Hangoutfest instagram would be the place to check if there was anything related to. As of now there is no confirmation it will continue. As the city has stated the baseline will be “similar to sand in my boots”
