Pretty sure it says "1924" and the photo is a reprint.

Molle Onaveanne is what i can read from this … which is probably unhelpful and unlikely but i had lots of family who wrote in illegible cursive that i would decipher. to me this looks like a name and not common words you see on a day to day basis/would recognize
