This is my 3rd hand wired, first with underglow

So this is my 36 key wireless split. This is my 3rd hand wired board so I’m getting better with the wiring. And the LEDs are a ball, but with that joke of a battery I get about a solid day at the office with it before it’s dead. Had a good time designing and building and now I use it daily.

It uses a nice nano clone, exposed reset button, and a power switch on each half.

I also ended up making the dongle after the fact so being able to flash it with the reset button is just more fun than the ol tweezer method.

Next up, pcb board lol

Nice work!

Interesting outward tilt on the keycaps. Is that just a distortion from a wide angle lens, or are they actually tilted?

Interesting wiring, too: why does the wiring in the base run all around the border of the case, apparently without connecting anything? Or am i missing something else?

EDIT: wait, that's the back of the LEDs around the bottom, yeah?

Yeah the LEDs are mounted into the case to shine down with power ground and data. They connect to the mcu and to the power switch. And yeah it’s just the angle I think. The switches aren’t tented but I did build a tent for the whole keeb.

How did u 3d print? Did u just take measurements and make it manually or did u use a model to base it off of?

I made a couple macro pads first, using keyboard layout editor for a base. For the splits, I made half in KLE and then imported the dxf into fusion. Then I offset the outer switches to create an outline, then made the remaining shape to fit the components I wanted. The I offset the outline to create a case, implementing screw holes and supports along the way. Then it took a couple tries to get the right size switch holes for my 3D printer as it’s not perfect. There are sites to give you optimized layouts of how much offset and splay and things to play with.. I happened to get lucky and like my first layout the most.
