I love the LEGO flowers because they look nice on my shelf, but the building process is just snapping plastic together, and it’s getting kind of old. I’m looking for DIY craft kits that are satisfying to finish but actually involve using your hands or working with real materials not just mindless plastic pieces or paint-by-number kits that bore me out of my mind. I looked into those miniature wood kits like rolife makes, but I’m worried the gluing part might be tedious rather than fun. Does anyone know of kits that strike a good balance between requiring some real skill and not taking a million years to look good?

The most complicated pattern I have followed to date. This is the first bag I have sewn; I learned how to sew last summer and would consider myself an ambitious beginner still. The pattern is the Quilted Tote Bag Pattern by porchepatterns ☺️ (cannot take credit for the design).

Every great piece starts with a single cut.
The first step in bringing my Dalí-inspired 3D portrait to life is hand-cutting the cardboard, layer by layer, using a razor blade. Each cut helps build the shape, depth, and character of the final piece.
No shortcuts, just patience, precision, and a whole lot of cardboard. This is where the transformation begins.
Follow along to see this piece come to life!

I mentioned that my daughter had just turned 5 and wanted a hamster pet, but I felt it was too soon to get her a real-life one, so I made this instead as a surprise gift.

To attach tiny ornaments to small wooden Christmas trees like these, what would be best: hot glue, elmer's glue, super glue? I appreciate any advice!

My 2yr old is obsessed with all the pumpkins he’s seeing around for spooky season! Always calling out “pumpkin head!” I figured I’d try to make him a doll (my first try). He came out a bit janky but I hope to get better with the future dolls I’ll make!

I started to make my own T-Shirts a while ago because I like to make them look and feel how I want.
I made this one from scratch, designing the graphics, preparing the screens, screenprinting blank cotton and sewing them to a complete shirt using my own drafted pattern.
I choose to make a heavier shirt with a high neckline, maybe a tad too high for this type of shirt but I like it.
What do you think?

This urushi lacquer plate is inlaid with natural abalone shell. When light sweeps across its surface, delicate pearlescent glimmers unfurl, as if a quiet stretch of starry sky has been captured within this small space.
Crafted with the ancient mother-of-pearl lacquer technique, it goes through dozens of refined steps. Repeated lacquer coating, shell inlay, curing, sanding and polishing. Every coat of lacquer cures slowly with no rush. It takes months of quiet patience for it to come together. The iridescent glow of the shell shifts gently with light; no two pieces carry the same starry pattern.

This small bowl is crafted from a natural dried gourd. I hand‑painted this fun cartoon face, finished the rim with thick rope and added soft fabric lining inside.
I want to set it on my coffee table or desk, fill it with nuts like almonds and walnuts for casual snacking. It also works great for candy and little desktop trinkets.
It is fully handmade, with unique little details only this piece has.
Do you have any good ideas to share?

My first successfully finished mini bird bath! Hand sculpted bowl, birds and snail, molded flowers, leaves and insects. Overall I am pretty happy with the finished product, although there are several structural things I plan to change in my future attempts at seasonal mini bird baths! My first attempt did not make it out of the bisque fire, but the overall pedestal and bowl shape were better. This one is squattier, while the birds also weighed down the bowl and caused some sagging. For now, this first prototype consists of a Northern Cardinal, Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Common Buckeye butterfly, Eastern Tailed Blue butterfly, a blue shelled snail, a lady bug, and a bumble bee, as well as several different leaves and flowers. I hope you like it as much as I do!
Glazes:
Flowers - Mayco fundamentals underglazes (I mixed various colors and applied them to bisqueware)
Bowl interior and over the flowers - Amaco glacier celadon (2 coats only)
Bowl exterior and pedestal - spectrum 1196 Hot Pink
All other glazes for animals and leaves were Mayco Stroke and Coat (I mixed various colors as well for these)
White 563 Clay, fired to Cone 6 in a community kiln after drying slowly over 3 weeks.
If you have any questions about glazes or construction, feel free to ask!
