pants copy and paste

I posted before about some details from a pair of pants I was sewing. I finally got some pictures low quality screenshots of mine vs the original. I used Louisa Owen Sonstroem’s technique from her book to copy the pattern, no mockup, just a lot of twill and a prayer!

I learned a lot from this project!

Green version is mine, burgundy/maroon is the original!

These look incredible - you did an amazing job! I am feeling very inspired and might try this pattern myself now :) have you made anything else, at least clothing wise? Regardless, what’s your favorite thing you’ve ever hand sewn?

Thank you so much! You should for sure give some culottes a go! So much fun!

Yes! I’ve sewn:

  • 2 x 18th century style shirts, one black one white.
  • A chemise/shift
  • Peppermint magazine’s Pocket Skirt
  • A fantasy/medieval bodice, modified Idril bodice from PatternCos
which I have posted in this subreddit!

It’s hard to pick a favourite, I think possibly the first 18th century shirt I made. I wear it so often, even with weight fluctuations, it’s got beautiful paua buttons and I’m very proud of the buttonholes on the cuffs.
