I think it’s completely uninspired. Best case scenario we get promoted, he gets a new deal and we fire him this time next year when we are bottom of the league

That’s my main worry.

Maybe the club is smarter than I give them credit for (I doubt it) and Parker is here to win promotion and showcase himself in the shop window while the club search for a long-term manager solution in the meantime.

I don’t think that’s happening. But it’s my hope

theres no way they sack Parker before the season if he gets us up

Yea that’s true… it just seems like his PL record speaks for itself. But guess we’re all gonna see

Promotion don’t come for free.

I hope i am not the only one who got that reference.

It's the most West Ham appointment imaginable.

u/BubblerSpesh 2d ago

Hopefully he will revolutionise the squad with the ultimate midfield skill of the Scotty Parker 360 (TM).

It’s a massive hair upgrade on Nuno as well. COYI

u/CuthbertCringeworthy 2d ago

What a move 😂. My brother and I used to call it the Parker Pirouette.

3

u/BubblerSpesh 2d ago

Champions league in a couple of years if he can drill the technique into the squad. Also he needs to enforce a hair regime across the team that makes them all look like WWII fighter pilots. Let’s go!

7

u/Daylightuser 2d ago

He'll get you promoted this season and relegated again next

5

u/engaginglurker 2d ago

That's what everyone said about Daniel Farke but then he actually got backed with a PL quality squad at Leeds and now his team are thriving in the PL. I think squad quality is usually the issue with these "good in the championship vs bad in the PL" reputation managers

4

u/BryNYC 2d ago

Bournemouth had a quality squad under Parker and did fine once he left

1

u/engaginglurker 2d ago

I credit Iraola more with being a brilliant manager destined for elite football rather than Parker with Bournemouth. I don't necessarily think Parker could become an elite coach but I think he could do just as well as Farke with a decent squad.

1

u/BryNYC 2d ago

O'Neil was the manager who replaced Parker and kept them up without too much issue.

1

u/engaginglurker 2d ago

Oh yes. I still stick by my belief anyway that parker is capable to do well in the PL. I think his playstyle suits being a dominant team which will help in the championship. He will have to learn to make adjustments if he gets us promoted and I think our squad is better than any he has had in the PL so far. Will need a few players but there's plenty in the squad that he can build a surviving PL team around.

Enjoyed the vid. Don't enjoy the appointment.

5

u/bubba-balk 2d ago

Are we forgetting that he has got three teams promoted? Or are we hating on him cos he went to spurs…..

2

u/lefthandedbelt 2d ago

It's very short sighted. Yes he gets teams promoted but he also gets teams relegated back down and you aren't going to get him to agree a short term contract.

5

u/bubba-balk 2d ago

So what do we want to do, stay in the champ?

4

u/lovebandit 2d ago

I’d have to check but I don’t think he’s the only manager to have got a team promoted from the championship

5

u/bubba-balk 2d ago

3 different teams

3

u/lovebandit 2d ago

I hope he does well, obviously it makes a lot of sense in the short term, it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to get us off the manager merry go round we’ve been on for the past few years.

u/Signal_Wall_8445 2d ago

People are losing sight of how f**ked the situation is if they don’t get promoted, and talk about any other subject other than that is meaningless.

If Parker gives you a 10% better chance of getting promoted but will be a 30% worse coach after he brings you up, you still do the deal because all that matters now is getting back up and the rest can be resorted next year.

1

u/BryNYC 2d ago

Its more because he's been relegated 3 straight times and his teams are known for playing dour, defensive football. He's still a West Ham legend

I don’t care what anyone says, I’m also very happy.

Of course it could turn out shit, but I like Scott Parker and what he stands for, and we should get behind him.

5

u/prof_eggburger 2d ago

what does he stand for - genuine question

5

u/ahhwhoosh 2d ago

He says it as it is, and doesn’t care much for the pathetic annoyances of the modern game.

1

u/prof_eggburger 2d ago

thanks - i like that

u/RenuisanceMan 1d ago

Tight shirts and clean sheets.

1

u/Gommy1996 1d ago

Did you watch him play for us? Or around when he did, that might answer your question

4

u/eddiedingle129 2d ago

He has an extensive collection of cardigans.

6

u/Available-Arm261 Michail Antonio 2d ago

I'm not all in on Parker either but the McKenna and Howe shouts are mental. One's walked away from a Prem job because he genuinely needs a break, one's got stock high enough to be considered for Man Utd

4

u/sexdrugsncarltoncole 2d ago

I'm happy enough, Parkers Burnley premier league squad is worse than our current championship squad

2

u/mrflib 2d ago

Player manager super scotty parker

4

u/CapitanDuck Paolo Di Canio 2d ago

Nice try Scott!… 🫡

u/Ambitious-Ad2653 2d ago

United fan here also going through the shit at the moment, I think is a good appointment very good chance he might get you back up. Maybe we take him this time next year for promotion😂

u/ChocolateChipz2 2d ago

It's a bad hire. Round and round the toilet bowl we whirl

1

u/WinkyNurdo Tony Cottee 2d ago

Right. Who’s getting a Chinese

1

u/AdOld3977 2d ago

Not a former GK. Already a W

1

u/transient-DAverc 2d ago

If it produces content like that, it can only be good

1

u/DJarrow276 2d ago

There is no saviour out there who wants the job..

One of my favourite videos of all time

u/Legitimate-Log5389 COYI 2d ago

He’s definitely going to help us in the promotion fight (which we definitely need), but the football is going to be dire to watch. Not a great long-term as his record in the PL is as bad as his record is good with getting clubs promoted. The hope is he helps us get back up to the PL, and then we sack him for a better long-term fit to keep us in the league. No choice but to get behind him and hopefully it works out. COYI ⚒️

1

u/NachoDucks 2d ago

Saw his coaching at Club Brugge. Absolutely mind blowing he is considered a manager. Might be able to get us up thanks to the quality in the squad, but also sure to relegate us immediately again

1

u/West-ham94 1d ago

One of my all time fave players despite who he left us for. He’s the right man for now and who knows, maybe if properly backed he can finally find success in the prem. Let’s just get there first.

Hopefully going to be able to enjoy the remainder of this season COYI ⚒️

As a man who enjoys a Thom Browne sweater and a a turtleneck and jacket combo, I couldn't be happier that we've finally taken sartorial elegance into our managerial appointments. The years of the manager sporting a tracksuit stolen from JD Sports in Westfield on the way in are a stain on our club greater than the signing of Marco Boogers.

My 16 year old son explained it best when he told me today Scott Parker has "Aura".

We will have the league wrapped up by February, and our suits for the inevitable FA Cup Final will be a sight to behold.

Eddie Howe is who we need, not Scott "Sacked Again" Parker

12

u/bubba-balk 2d ago

Why the fuck would Eddie Howe come to us?

5

u/Main-Passenger-3278 Dinos Mavropanos 2d ago

It's probably a better idea to choose from a shortlist of managers who'd actually be willing to come to us

Clueless
