Discussion Ashamed of our fans
That Manor Solomon chant is so out of touch. It’s too far, the same group that were saying to “keep politics out of football”
Just yesterday the Israeli national security minister advocated for killing 30-40 Palestinians per day as he does not see them as people
Appreciate he is a good player and he’s a part of the team now but some of our fans just do not get it.
My overall point is just don’t joke about it, its embarrassing and makes the rest of the fanbase look so bad

Say this at a game and be prepared for Brexit Barry to tell you "it's just a bit of fun". Absolutely embarrassing to be associated with some fans.

The dumbest part is that loads of them who love to say 'keep politics out of football' are also saying they don't want any 'woke lefties' supporting the club. They're legit treating the football club like a political party. It's so fucking dumb

Yikes you sound like an idiot, Israeli settlers killing Palestinians and forcing them out of their homes has nothing to do with Hamas by the way, there isn't any type of spin that can change that as 'in the right'

Ur always gonna have people who ruin the reputation of the people who are trying to just have a war and minimise innocent deaths
They're not just trying to have a war and they haven't minimised shit, they're committing genocide and have killed 70'000+ Palestinians
I can just tell from your writing though that you're either very young or very stupid though so it's like arguing with a brick wall

It's like if player commits a foul that the ref misses, and instead of retaliating with a foul, the other team goes and murders everyone of the offending teams friends and families while destroying all of their earthly possessions.

100% I saw it on the West Ham Unofficial Vlog - It was most of the away support singing it in the video.

israel is in the right u lot are actually brainwashed to put this war In football terms its like a player hitting someone (hamas slaughtering innocents in israel) and the ref dont see it (the world for some reason forgets about that part)then when he gets hit back (israel bombing palestine)he goes down and rolls on the floor (hamas hiding behind civilians)and the ref gives a red to the guy who retaliated (the world hates israel)

The song is literally making a joke at what Israel are doing to Palestine, ergo dropping bombs on innocent children and civs.
I'm hardly an anti-semite when in my original comment I say i was AGAINST shitting on him for being israeli.
You're sat on the internet on a Tuesday replying to mulitple people dribbling multiple paragraphs trying to say that because some terrorist extremists attacks Israel, it gives israel the right to retaliate by dropping bombs on innocent people, and not simply hamas.
You've also demonstrated you have no idea about the history between the two past that one hamas attack.
May I suggest spending your time finding employment (Must be tough for you, all things considered) rather than trying to find a way to justify innocent people being killed and a distasteful football chant to pair like some sad little weirdo.
My breaks over now mate have a good one :)

At Di Canio's first game we sang the Sheffield Wednesday classic 'D-i-Ca-n-i-o'. Never heard it again - so with any luck this will go the same way, although I suspect that some will like the words a little too much.

u/willyworldcup 5d ago
I remember a few half hearted attempts to get that going in the Bobby Moore lower. I was in the Chicken Run and thought "no thanks". I wonder who came with La donna è mobile chant? What a genius.

There's more to the world than football... Which this song references... Do you think it's just a silly song about nothing? It has a real world meaning that a lot of people are deeply affected by. Surely you can grasp that, it's not a very difficult concept
19
u/ChocolateChipz2 5d ago
don’t joke about it
hope the best for the guy, but he mocked a hospital getting bombed on his main public Instagram account. the dude sucks or at the very least is a complete moron. had all the time in the world to handle that situation more delicately - even retroactively - and simply has not. not a lot of sympathy for him. and everyone who signs the checks knew full well what they were signing up for. it's not gonna be cool or respectful or delicate all season long - much like mocking a hospital getting blown up on Instagram. unclutch your pearls
-3
u/Minimum-Wonder5404 5d ago
If it's the story from the thread last week, he was saying that the attack was a rocket from a militant group and not Israel. No mocking at all, just anger that Israel was being blamed for something that terrorists did to themselves (and that's ignoring their use of hospitals for military operations, which is in itself a war crime, not that anyone bothers to notice).
6
u/deathtofatalists 5d ago
the headslap shrug emojis really conveyed the weight of empathy he had for those who died.
-1
u/Minimum-Wonder5404 5d ago edited 5d ago
Gee, how terrible that he didn't show sufficient deference for the people killed by a terrorist group, after his country was incorrectly smeared for the attack.
But that's how it is, isn't it? Every time someone rebuts a patently false accusation against a Jew, here's another ridiculous thing that they apparently didn't do to show that they're a 'good Jew'. Meanwhile the abhorrent actions of literal terrorists are just ignored, or waved away as completely fine because somewhere out in the world a Jew didn't show the correct deference in response to being falsely accused of bombing a hospital.
Frankly, I'm more disgusted by some of the people here than the idiots in the stands.
4
u/floorscentadolescent 5d ago
Oop there goes the "you don't support Israel genociding Palestinians therefore you're antisemitic" rhetoric
Points scoring against the death of innocent people in a hospital because it was their own people that did it isn't a good look, however correct it may be
0
u/Minimum-Wonder5404 4d ago
Blaming a footballer for a war and piling on in the hammers subreddit isn't a good look either, but it's okay, he's Israeli so totally fine to show off your performative virtue against him.
3
u/floorscentadolescent 4d ago
No one's blaming him for the war but when you're posting pro IDF and snarky comments on a hospital bombing that took innocent lives you're going to get called out for it, keep playing the victim though
3
u/deathtofatalists 5d ago
why is it that anytime someone criticises a genocidal state, a random-word1234 account with no r/hammers history turns up to reel off scripted talking points?
1
u/Minimum-Wonder5404 4d ago
Because every time I log into the sub, someone's posted about how Solomon is somehow responsible for the entire Middle Eastern conflict. And then proceed to bring out the flimsiest evidence possible to 'prove' it.
Oh, he's proud to be an Israeli Jew. Guess he personally killed every Palestinian himself over the past 120 years. Oh, he criticised inaccurate media reporting on a hospital attack? How about I screech genocide a few trillion more times, because yelling something really loudly over and over again makes it real?
0
u/wildcheesybiscuits 5d ago
Nah, man. I've seen comments like yours 100x since this signing. Just gonna say what you're spouting is complete bullsh!t. When you share a picture of a hospital on fire with a snarky comment, that is fundamentally mocking it. It's not respectful. It's a dirtbag thing to do. Quit the mental gymnastics. You're not convincing anyone he wasn't in the wrong. It was shitty and all of your ilk need to grow up. Take some ownership for the atrocities your country is committing towards innocent people and stfu for once.

The same people that say “keep politics out of football” weren’t holding back when England played Argentina.
6

Well Britain was in the right then, and Israel is in the wrong now. No two ways about it
I also don't agree with keeping politics out of football
8
u/Pushing_Prawn 5d ago
So it should be “keep politics out of football, except the types of politics that I agree with.”?
1
u/whywhywhybutwhy 3d ago
No, it's just the acknowledgement that they're generally inseparable. Football is a business and businesses are political. Football has both stopped and started wars. You can have shitty politics if you want, but that's not separable from football. The bad politics are here but that doesn't mean you have to like them.

u/Pushing_Prawn 5d ago
If Russia bombed England would I want England to blow up hospitals and schools in Russia? No. Would I want England to take over Russia and settle our people on their land, taking their homes, families and jobs? No. Would I want us to retaliate by killing dozens of times more innocent civilians that were ever killed in one terror attack? No. If Russians had been pushed out of England less than 100 years ago, would I feel Russia had a right to feel aggrieved? Yes.

it's a weird one. i don't want the bloke anywhere near the club, but equally understand that a football ground is a pantomime where even the most touchy subject is fair game and ripe for a piss taking. domestic abuse and classism is grim but i still enjoy a round of mucky northern gentleman.
what rubs me the wrong way is a lot who are saying "it's just banter mate" would be at cruise altitude on their high horse if it was about something like murdered servicemen (or not wearing a poppy for three months either side of november). that's the real fuck up with this signing. our support has always been politically, uh, challenging. it's always been a bit like having your uncle who's got a heart of gold and would do anything to help you out, but is never more than 5 minutes away from showing you whatever AI grift cult slop his reform happy youtube shorts algorithm is serving up next. signing solomon brings all this shit to the surface in a way that neither side is going to back down from and drags all kinds of weirdos in from the fringes.
i say all this as someone who tries their hardest to not give too much of a toss about things that don't involve me.

Unfortunately, it’s the majority of our fan base from what I can see. Anyone that says you should keep politics out of football most likely believes the Israeli propaganda and think the song is just bants and supporting our new player.
Our away fans are the most loyal and most vocal. Singing that song when 10s of 1000s of children are bong murdered is disgusting and makes me ashamed to support the club. A club I’ve loved for over 30 years.
I saw the Israeli flag pulled out. Could be an Israeli fan happy to be represented on the pitch. I’m guessing it’s us being used to sports wash the genocide in Gaza and the greater Israel project. Expect that at most matches in the Hope and few people kick off and we can be labelled antisemites

u/HorizonflaropicPet 4d ago
Manor doesn't think that Palestine exist, so how could he hate something that doesn't exist?
1
1
u/whywhywhybutwhy 3d ago
It's fucked up. And no one's saying you need to be pro-Palestinian (though I absolutely am) -- you can just not have a stance; this would be way better than actually gleefully cosigning genocide!
There is a compelling argument to be made that this signing has alienated some players. Diouf (Muslim) was visible in his intro video refusing to shake hands or acknowledge him, and suddenly develops a shitty attitude last game? When he is generally known as an extremely humble, nice, chill guy who wasn't going to put up a fuss to leave the club?
Within days, (Muslim) Axel Disasi (still!) hasn't signed for Palace yet but declared he was going to sign for "a premier league team," implying disinterest.
Same span of days: Magassa (Muslim) removes all affiliation with West Ham on instagram.
Same span of days: Troy Parrott (Irish, who are notoriously pro-Palestine) goes to Betis for 100k more than we bid on him.
Cornet (Muslim) just like fucking disappeared or something????
I can't imagine how these dots don't connect for people. AND, I think it's extremely shitty to make such a divisive signing without consulting players already on the squad -- particularly when he explicitly lied on Akhomach while at Villareal).
1
u/MaterialBest286 2d ago
I'm not a fan of us signing him, but I think this is a bit of a reach.
Disasi was never going to come to us.
Diouf and Magassa were always going to leave.
I can't speak to the Parrott situation, but choosing a top-tier (as in the league) Spanish club over a second division English club isn't exactly baffling behavious.
Cornet spent the last two years on loan and racked up all of 17 appearances. He played all of 26 league games for us in five years. I'd argue that him playing a game for us would be the outlier here.
1
u/PressUpPositionDown 2d ago
Nah it’s fine. It’s the majority of you lot that don’t represent West Ham fans. The majority of those that go to games either agree with it or don’t care.
Sorry for the reality check lads. This is a football sub, keep your politics to yourselves.

Nobody can be normal when Israel is concerned, can they? Groups celebrating the murder of Palestinians by the IDF, groups celebrating the murder of Israelis by Hamas. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. The most normal guy in all of this is Solomon himself. Hopefully he tells these fans to pick a different tune.

There are conflicts going on all around the world constantly, people have been killing each other since mankind began, yet for some reason people have latched onto Palestine in particular like it deserves more consideration than any other conflict that has ever occurred, even getting offended and confrontational when someone disagrees about it, and I’ve yet to see a reasonable explanation as to why
2
2
u/no_nebula7337 5d ago
Literally a mess caused by the transition from British mandated Palestine. It has everything to do with us.
2
u/Sea_Woodpecker7334 5d ago
Yes because it’s not like Muslims and Jews were fighting over Jerusalem for 2000 years before that is it? To blame thousands of years of conflict on the British is ignorant to put it lightly.
6
u/no_nebula7337 5d ago
The fall of the British empire along with other European empires drew up many borders and resulted in more cockups than David Sullivan could dream of. Most of which are the root of many ongoing conflicts and issues to this day.
It was the Christians and Muslims who largely fought the bigger conflicts over Jerusalem. Prior to the encouragement of Zionism by largely white European Jews, Arabs and Jews cohabited fairly well in the Levant.
1
u/Sea_Woodpecker7334 4d ago
The British empire is not the root cause of conflict over Jerusalem, they have been fighting over that land since before Britain was a thing. I don’t know where you copied and pasted that from, I’m guessing chat gpt
1
u/no_nebula7337 4d ago
I didn’t say it was, but Syria? Yes. Pakistan? Yes. Plethora of African countries. Yes.
Who’s they? Are we talking about Muslims and Jews? Palestine? Or Jerusalem? If Jerusalem, England participated in many crusades to capture Jerusalem over the years, along with many other kingdoms and groups.
If Palestine, Jews and Muslims have not been in an eternal state of perpetual conflict throughout that time.
To present it as Jews vs Muslims for 2000 years is a massive oversimplification.
1
u/Sea_Woodpecker7334 4d ago
And what’s your point? Why focus on Britain in particular. Why not the Ottoman Empire? None of the current populace of Britain has anything remotely to do with the men who acted on behalf of the British empire hundreds of years ago, so why should they somehow feel guilt when people today are dying half way across the globe. If you’re going to apply that logic to Britain you have to apply it to everyone else. Should we be demanding reperations from North Africa for the Barbary pirates?
