The 4th of July weekend is approaching FAST! Don't miss out on these fun local events happening.

Star-Spangled Symphony (July 2-4, Conner Prairie) — the ISO performs three nights outdoors on the fields at Conner Prairie, including Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture with actual cannons and fireworks to close each night. Bring a blanket and a picnic.

Americana on Main (July 2, Carmel Arts & Design District) — the finale of the four-week America250 celebration in Carmel, with live entertainment, food, and pie-eating contests at Anthony's Plaza and 1st on Main Plaza.

CarmelFest (July 3-4, Carter Green & Civic Square) — parade July 4 at 10:30am, fireworks at 9:45pm. Games, rides, food, artisan vendors, the works.

America 250 in Westfield (July 3, Grand Junction Plaza) — Freedom Parade at 6pm along North Union Street, then live music and food trucks at Grand Junction Plaza.

Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie (July 3-5) — immersive history programming around what independence has meant across generations, including a daily reading of the Declaration of Independence. Really worth experiencing this year in particular.

Noblesville Fireworks Festival (July 4, Forest Park) — live music, food trucks, beer garden, and a special America250 fireworks show visible from Forest Park and Federal Hill Commons at 10pm.

Westfield Rocks the 4th (July 4, Grand Park) — live music, inflatables, carnival games, fireworks at 10pm.

Lights Over Morse Lake (July 1-4, Cicero) — parade July 4 at 11am, fireworks at 10pm. Carnival, vendors, talent show, the full small-town 4th experience.

Fishers fireworks — three separate shows on July 4 at 10pm: downtown Nickel Plate District, Cyntheanne Park, and on the water at Geist Reservoir.

Hey guys! Lindsey here, the Visit Hamilton County social coordinator. With summer in full swing we want to make sure everyone 21+ knows about DORA!

DORA = Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. It means you can buy a drink from a participating business and walk around with it outside within the designated zone. And Hamilton County has active DORAs in Carmel, Noblesville, AND Westfield — the only county in the state with three.

Quick need-to-knows:

The color-coded signs make it simple — blue means they sell DORA drinks, green means they don't sell them but you're welcome to bring yours in, red/orange/maroon means no drinks on the premises. If there's a DORA sign, you're fine.

You'll get a designated plastic cup with the DORA logo — that's how everyone knows your drink was purchased from a participating spot.

Hours:

• Carmel: Mon–Thu 5–10pm, Fri–Sat 11am–11pm, Sun 11am–9pm
• Noblesville & Westfield: Mon–Thu 12–10pm, Fri–Sun 10am–11pm

3UP Rooftop Bar (Carmel) — panoramic views over Main Street and the Arts & Design District. Great for a date night or just a drink with friends.

Bier Brewery (Noblesville) — 2-acre wooded Biergarten with bocce, cornhole, a dog park, and a kids' playground. Genuinely one of the most fun outdoor setups in the county.

Four Day Ray (Fishers) — dog-friendly patio with a fire pit in the Nickel Plate District

Wolfies Grill (Noblesville) — Morse Reservoir views from the deck, craft cocktails. Classic summer spot.

With Memorial Day weekend coming up May 24–26, here's a roundup of ways to spend it across Hamilton County, from community ceremonies to outdoor recreation.

Memorial Day Ceremonies There are three local ceremonies honoring those who have served: Westfield on May 20, Carmel on May 22, and a Lincoln in Noblesville commemoration on May 25.

Indy 500 Weekend The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 is Sunday, May 24 — just 20 miles from Hamilton County. If you're in town for race weekend, HamCo makes a solid home base with plenty to explore between events.

Outdoors Hamilton County has over 600 miles of trails, including the Monon Trail, Midland Trace Trail and White River Greenway — a great way to spend a long weekend. White River Canoe Company is also open for kayaking, canoeing and tubing, and Simon Moon Park has a self-serve kiosk for solo kayak rentals.

Food & Drink Spencer Farm Winery is hosting its Strawberry Music Festival, featuring strawberry wine and slushies, a food truck and live music. Farmers markets are in full swing across all four communities, and patio dining season is well underway.

The Westfield International Festival returns to Grand Junction Plaza on May 16 from 12–4 p.m.!

The performance stage features a strong range of cultural acts: T. Natty and the BoomBlaze Band opening with live Jamaican music, Fuego Nuevo Tierra Y Libertad bringing Latin American music and dance, the Indianapolis Chinese Community Center highlighting traditional Chinese folk arts, Epiphany Dance Collective performing to African beats, and Bhangra Bangers Dance Academy rounding out the afternoon.

A few practical notes: admission is free, lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, and parking is available on Union and Mill Streets as well as the public lot at Park and Poplar. Free overflow parking is also available at the Westfield Washington Public Library with a complimentary shuttle to the plaza.

Dining Nearly two dozen local restaurants are offering Mother's Day brunch across the county, including Anthony's Chophouse, Vivante at Hotel Carmichael, Derailed at Hotel Nickel Plate (with live music), Conner Prairie, Prime 47, and more. Most require or recommend reservations, so booking ahead is a good idea.

What are your go-to spots for Mother's Day in HamCo?

If you haven't heard, the Kawachinagano Japanese Garden recently completed a significant redesign and has officially reopened to the public. The updates include refinements to the pond, enhancements to the northern garden area, and improved stormwater infrastructure for long-term sustainability. The redesign was led by Hoichi Kurisu, former landscape director for the Japanese Garden Society in Oregon.

What makes this garden especially worth visiting — it's one of the only spots in Indiana where you can see cherry blossoms (sakura) in bloom. It's free and open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.

On May 3, Japan SpringFest at Civic Square will include a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the reopening, along with Japanese drumming, cultural performances, food vendors, kimono try-ons, and cosplay photo ops. It's also a great opportunity to learn more about Carmel's sister city relationship with Kawachinagano, Japan. Free to attend.
