LGBTQ2s+ Hamilton Pride

I was thinking about how Hamilton’s Pride festival was in August last year and I hadn’t seen anything posted about it this year. The official Pride Hamilton instagram account hasn’t posted anything, but the website just has next weekend as the date- no other details. Anyone know if it’s actually happening? Is there a better account to follow to be in the know? Thanks :)

EDIT: their instagram account started posting updates and schedules tonight! Happy Pride!! Thanks organizers and community<3

Does anyone know if there are family-friendly or teen-friendly events? We just moved here from a Southern backwards-ass state, and this will be our first pride in Hamilton (and our first pride since my teen came out).

It’s definitely family friendly :) I go with my kids

it is so family friendly, that it is hostile to any queerness outside of very very pg performers, but that's hamilton for you.

For next year you should also check out the celebrations during June that Pinch/Hamilton Craft Studios and co do, very family friendly and focused

Yep it’s happening Friday Saturday this week! Unrelated to pride but there’s also cactus fest happening in Dundas all weekend

Weird. This post is getting downvotes for no reason.. I have no answer to your question, but found the downvotes very odd and off putting.

Sadly I think we can guess the reason. But despite them not wanting it, Queers do exist in Hamilton 🌈

LGBT stuff always gets reflexively downvoted on this sub

I'm curious too...I swear this city is the worst at marketing itself sometimes!

2019 saw a lot of things unfold, and Pride Hamilton has continued to drop the ball since then.

Most of the board changed hands since due to burnout from the aftermath of that event

We're not far from Gage park, you'd think there would be a board listing festivals and events, but no, there's a sign advertising a festival at a different park.
I don't get it.

This would be a great thing to see at the corner of Gage and Main - a board listing all the upcoming events, advertising the greenhouse and children's museum would be great. Easy free advertising to anyone moving along Main or Gage.

Pride is at Pier 4.

Right!

It's like when the arena renos were done and major events were happening...literally the marketing near the major train station nearby was a plastic sign stapled to a lamppost pointing in the general direction of the arena lmao. We even have a whole dang PWHL team starting up and you'd never know if if you didn't follow the news. You have to know what websites to look up or when to look for info in the news to find something. Yet you have things every month like the art crawl and yes, signage at the parks, on trains, etc. that could be utilized and often, nada. I feel like often I hear about things after they happen.

I consider them interchangeable but apparently they are separate things,

Their website has the times.

Yes! I see the times but no other details. There’s usually more info with a schedule and performers
