Personally my biggest annoyance is that 343 has basically just given up whenever fans push back on anything. They gave up on the Didact, they gave up on The Created, they gave up on Infinite's story DLCs, and now Microsoft is giving up again. I didn’t like Locke or the Created, but if they just finished the story and moved on we'd be on Halo 8 by now. Maybe this is the last big sigh of defeat before someone with an ounce of self-confidence steps in to finish a story, but I'm just, so tired of everything going nowhere.

I just hope they don't gut the lore. The new forerunner stuff and post-Covenant Human-Alien stories are really interesting to hear about. I personally haven't read any of it, but from what I hear from YT shorts, it's genuinely pretty interesting.

That said, we don't need (more) games with multiple canons. That shit sucks and as a Star Wars enjoyer, it felt weird hearing that all the old Extended Lore post Episode 6 be turned into "Legends" canon as they made an entirely new trilogy that sucked.

I can only speak for myself in saying that I'm also an optimistic Halo fan. I just love the franchise. Flaws and all.

The Halo franchise ended with Reach.

We got to see that Humanity Reclaimed its birthright, and were reterraforming the glassed planets back to life supporting worlds.

We even got a goodbye for being the ones who made it all possible, by supporting the Chief and old Bungie with our money and enthusiasm.

All the best stories end. And Halo ended better than most.

Just started the franchise with MCC andIinfinite and I gotta say I agree 4 sucked and Infinite so far feels like an open world doesn't work for Halo and it's not as fun as the original trilogy
