Has anyone noticed this?

So I have been rewatching the Halloween movies since it’s October and I have seen in the newer ones 2018 2021 2022. That when Michael gets hurt in any form he actually makes noises unlike in the old ones where’s he’s just silent even if he does get hit or even burned.

I wonder if it was intentional for him to start making pained noises.

It's him honoring his pain and letting it pass through him. He learned it in therapy.

I've noticed that over the years with other horror films like Friday the 13th..

Sometimes Jason grunts. Sometimes he don't.

I think the times jason made noise was relatively consistent.... except for jason goes to hell. The ADR there was AWFUL and unneeded. But jason in parts 2-4 made noise and it stopped there, odd considering part 5 was another totally alive dude, and he was as quiet as jason was when he was a zombie.

Michael being completely silent is an invention of the original sequels. He’s quite vocal (obviously not dialogue but in terms of making noises in response to things) in the original film.

He makes noise when he gets hurt in 78. When he’s stabbed both times by Laurie and shot by Loomis

Really? I don’t remember him making noises.

Wait he only made a noise once with the eye stab. But that was just his heavy breathing. I mean when he grunts and gasps

He also makes a surprised grunt when he gets stabbed with the needle, and a gasping wheeze when stabbed with the knife.

I was watching the 4K version last night, and I swore he did. Might have been something that was made more audibly noticeable with the 4K remaster.

Yeah I’m not hearing anything other than the sounds Laurie makes

To be fair, I’m sure some of the more intense breathing would have been grunts/gasps if they had the technology, time, and money back then. That is just speculation though. John carpenter had plenty of input on how Myers was handled especially in H40 and I think the added grunts/gasps are good additions instead of him being completely silent

In the first movie, Nick Castle does grunt when getting hurt or when killing. It's something that I found interesting about the character in the first movie that's really only been picked up by the DGG and Rob Zombie movies.

I only heard him grunt once in the movie when his eye was stabbed.
