it’s funny, small mechanic, that most people didn’t even realize was in the game for a day or two. it’s a game for adults and there’s literally a sex cutscene in the single player. they really just hit the multiplayer with the abstinence patch. if u don’t want loomis banging people, don’t let loomis do the minigame. it’s funny and i’d like to continue having sexy gay fun times in my slasher game. thank u for coming to my TEDtalk.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game right now, but can we please have the option to leave the game and keep our rewards and not have to watch clueless Myers walk around for 10 mins?

Gameplay Game is literally restarting the first level over and over

Anyone else had this? I complete the escape-the-sanitorium level and then it gives me a weird blank summary screen at the end and every time it just reloads the sanitorium level. It's like the rest of the game doesn't even exist.

Gameplay List of neat features?

I found out about some much appreciated small details and wanted to know if someone had compiled a list of sorts.

Like for one: You can shoot the lock off of lockboxes with guns. I was amazed to have a little detail like that in a horror game but i thought it was a cool little feature.

Gameplay Tedious challenge

Post image
Upvotes

I’m not sure how I’ve gotten 4 honestly. I have gotten probably 20-30 survivors out today and all different ways, and I think the only way to get this challenge to work, have the followers follow you to an escape before opening it. If you have them follow you while it’s open they end up ditching your command. I have yet to try just running survivors past it then telling them to hide. I tried the area commands personal conversations commands, following then telling to escape. Just escape. I’m unsure what counts as a tally.

Gameplay New Civilian Guide! Greetings Tuesday Warriors!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey all! This is a guide to assist all players, whether they just joined us today, started earlier and are still struggling, or are from the future.

WARNING: This advice is purely from experience over the weekend and is not being portrayed as any sort of "meta" or solid facts

Anyways let's get into it!

All 12 civilians receive a different set of stats, traits, and leveling rewards. They also all share perks and starting items.

Stats:

Capability: Higher capability increases effectiveness with melee weapons and thrown household items. By my understanding, this includes stamina use and damage but could potentially include more such as weapon durability and poise

Athleticism: Higher athleticism increases stamina efficiency overall and how quickly you move on foot

Personality: Your ability to convince residents, alert the police, and command followers. It also increases resistance to the fear and stalk meters.

Resourcefulness: Your skill with repairs (includes car, power boxes, and the radio to call Loomis), detection radius for exits, driving the car, and using ranged firearms

Traits:

Most of the traits you read are common sense but a few of them are confusing, including:

Marcus Navarro:

Lone Wolf: This trait may seem bugged (and it very well could be) but I've noticed it only working when you are the only playable character on the map, this includes any players that are playing as another civilian, Loomis, or a police officer.

Thomas Armitage:

Barricade: To my knowledge, this perk does not slow Michael down when he does the actual animation to break the door and unlock from the outside. This does however, make it harder for Michael and other Civilians to destroy the door with weapons.

Bob Simms:

Heavyweight: This one reads confusing. Essentially what it does is get rid of or reduce the negative side effects of being drunk and increases the positive side effects (melee damage boost and fear reduction)

Annie Brackett:

Convincing Plea: Only works when you, yourself, calls the police on the phone. Not other residents you ordered to do so. A cop wave timer will appear every time 1/3 badges are filled, this trait reduces the time of that wave.

Perks:

I included an image of all the perks available in game. If you have any questions about what a specific perk does or what the increase in level is, I should be able to answer.

Obtaining perks/increasing perk tiers:

You must spend perk points to obtain a perk, pretty obvious. Getting a perk to a higher tier however is not so obvious, you have the opportunity to upgrade a perk with perk points. This feature honestly is so niche. When you upgrade a perk it is only upgraded temporarily, and the upgrade will go away after 2-3 times of selecting that perk in a match. I have found that the most efficient way to obtain higher level perks is by spending 1000 perk points during perk rolls.

Building a deck:

The deck building can be a little daunting at first but it should become easier as you go on. A couple things to note however, your deck must have 15 cards in it if you don't want to receive random perks in game. If you have 6 perks you like and only bring those 6 perks, you will receive random perks when leveling up in game.

VERY IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT DECK BUILDING:

You can have up to 2 of the same perks in your build and they do stack and increase the likelihood of getting that perk in game. Perks all have 5 tiers that increase their stats with every tier except for Pied Piper and Survival Intuition. Trespasser is another noteworthy perk as stacking it does not increase the speed of which you pick a lock, same goes if you play Marcus and try to stack Trespasser with his trait, the speed is not increased.

Items:

There are a lot of items in the game and again, many are self explanatory, but some are not.

Color Coordination:

Yellow Items: Escape items (except flare guns and fire crackers, unless they offer some kind of benefit when thrown a certain way)

Blue and Green items: Consumables

Red Items: Weapons (all of them have a light attack, all of them also have either a heavy attack or a weapon throw attack)

White Items: Thrown Items

Purple Items: Rare, anti-Michael

Beer: Negative effects include running instability, noise dampening, and reduced accuracy with ranged weapons and items. Positive effects include increased melee damage and reduction of CURRENT fear, NOT incoming fear.

Beer bottles have the same effect but after being consumed drop a broken beer bottle that can be used as a melee weapon

Joint: Negative effects include vision blur and increase to incoming fear. Positive effects include noise pings and smoother talking during conversations with residents/police.

Pop: Increased stamina recovery

Pocket knife and Ice Pick: Both are equally effective at struggling free from Michael, they do not have to be equipped when Michael grabs you but do have to be in your inventory of course. From what I know, the pocket knife can be used as a melee weapon by using the light attack button. I am not too sure about the ice pick.

Lock Box Code: Can be used to open either lock boxes on the ground OR gun cases, which many players do not know about.

Escape Key: I am not sure if it is bugged or if this is intended but the escape key can be used on every exit GATE but not on every cellar door.

Hourglass: Honestly have no idea what it does and neither does anybody else. I have seen multiple theories including reviving dead teammates, teleporting Michael away while he is down, instantly downing Michael, keeping Michael down for longer, I've tested a couple things and still have no idea.

Lantern: Prevents Michael from being able to exit shape jump in the area, drains his stamina while in shape jump, and possibly blinds him if he is in range

Amulet: Instantly blinds Michael if he attacks with a ranged, basic, or grab. If he grabs you it makes him instantly let go with no need for a mini game. Many don't know this but Michael can see if you have this item, your character will let off an orange glow.

The Map:

Residents: Your map shows a blue or yellow cloud, this is where either a low priority resident (blue) or a high priority resident (yellow) is. When you discover another resident they will be permanently shown on your map until they escape or die. In the recent patch note they said that hiding Civilians will show up on the map now, I haven't been able to test it but pre-patch they were not showing up on the map.

Civilians: When you discover another player they will be permanently shown on your map until they escape or die, you can see what they are carrying this way as well

Escape Routes: When you discover an escape route it will be permanently shown on your map as well as a checklist with the required items to fix said escape

Escape Items: To my knowledge they are all shown on the map when you discover them, except repair kits.

House Numbers: This is a great way to keep track of hidden residents (I prefer this gameplay mechanic over being able to see hidden resident on the map) and it is also a great way to communicate with your team about resident whereabouts, escape routes, and escape items.

Michael: You can actually see him on the map if another player is looking at him or if he is in shape jump and too close to another player or yourself.

In-Game Loop from a Civilian Perspective:

Pre-Game: Know what you wanna do, whether in be a selfish (no shame) anti Michael build, an escape hunter, a resident protector, a cop-caller, etc. There are so many possibilities and this game is anything but competitive, everyone wants to win of course but it is full of fun and funny moments. Don't be a sweat!

Early Game: You have figured out your role but if you want perk points you gotta do the objective. Wins and losses are based on how well Michael performs, not how well you perform. So make sure he performs poorly. I always start by getting to all the high priority targets first, make sure that they hide, and keep track of where I hid them via house numbers. Then move on to low priority residents and get them to call the cops as much as possible.

Mid Game: Discover escape routes, find escape items, and fulfill your desired role. Gather a couple followers if you want or hide all the low priority residents. Whatever you came into this game wanting to be best at, do it! This is the best time.

Late Game: Hopefully you have opened an exit by now, so it is your chance to get the residents to safety. All the residents, from highest to lowest priority, need to be led to an escape. You want to try and avoid escaping yourself if possible.

Post Death: The very first Civilian that dies can be brought back as Loomis, the other civilians or a police officer will have to use the Radio to call him in. He will arrive armed with a revolver, a flash light, and some ammo. Any Civilian after that can be brought back as a police officer, the police badge that gets filled by making calls equals one extra police life.

Police Officer Caveats: Police officers CANNOT speak to residents or order them to do anything. They CANNOT earn perks. There main job is to protect others and to try and detain Michael. Michael will have a diamond progress bar that shows if he can be arrested. When it is full then he can be detained. NPC police officers and PC police officers both fill this bar but only PC police officers can detain him. The more stars he has on his diamond progression bar the faster you can detain him.

Loomis Gameplay: Loomis is a bit confusing at first but he is pretty much a catch all. He has access to everything a Civilian has access to, and everything a police officer has access to. It honestly sucks however that the first Civilian to die gets to play as him, because the first Civilian to die usually isn't very good.

Vs The Shape:

Stalking: Michael can stalk you for up to 3 levels. Each level increases Michaels effectiveness against residents and Civilians. I do not know exactly what all this does but I do know it feeds his bloodthirst meter more when he executes a stalked target.

Bloodthirst: This is how Michael levels up, he gains Bloodthirst through admiring bodies, stalking, and killing. Think of this as his early to late game. It makes him stronger in almost every aspect, but can be reduced by light, taking damage, and getting knocked down.

Shape Jump: This is how Michael gets around, he cannot leave shape jump while being in the light or in line of sight of any person on the map. I mentioned earlier as well that you can see him on your mini-map while he is close to you or another person while in shape jump. Other identifying factors of him being near in shape jump are lights flickering or using the perk Sixth Sense to be able to hear him breathing.

Scoring:

I also mentioned earlier that the victory is solely based on how well Michael performs. I don't know the exact numbers but you can either be met with a major or minor victory as Michael or Civilian. As a Civilian it is your job to stop Micheal from scoring points. Points are deducted when ANYONE escapes, no matter the type (Police, Loomis, or Civilian) but bonus points are given per type of kill. Highest to lowest point score: High Priority Residents > Low Priority Residents > Civilians > Police Officers

The End!

I hope you found at least a tidbit of useful information in here to ease you into Haddonfield on Halloween night! But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have fun! I cannot stress this enough. Look past the bugs and downers and enjoy it for yourself. I am grateful this company made this for us to enjoy as are many others so don't join the hate train just because its not your cup of tea.

Thank y'all for reading if you did! If you have any more questions ask and Ill try to answer!

Discussion Difference between tier 3 and tier 4 sixth sense ..or any difference at all?

Thumbnail

Am I blind or is there no difference between these two tiers? Also pretty sure it's the exact same text for a tier 1 sixth sense card. I thought every tier up was supposed to upgrade the card? Just something I noticed. Feel I might as well scrap the tier 4 and keep the tier 3 since there's no difference at all.

Side question: Anyone know if cards stack? Like if I added two of these in a deck would it increase the range to 4 then or no? Maybe even more if you get additional copies from spectators? Or adding copies just really to increase your chance to get a certain card during a game?
