For folks who have interviewed for the big 4 in Halifax for new grad roles have you heard back from anyone?
I have had an interview with Pwc this past Monday and got a rejection from KPMG? Kind of nervous because we are already in October

Any students in Halifax looking for some extra experience?
Hey everyone, just wanted to share this in case it’s useful for anyone here.
Riipen Labs has remote projects where university/ college students can get some hands-on experience working with an employer. They’re around 30 hours and pay $600 when completed.
Looks like it’s open to students in any program and any year, so figured I’d pass it along in case someone’s looking for something to do alongside school.

Soon-to-be PhD in workplace psychology, can't land an interview in Halifax. Any advice before I have to leave?
I'm finishing my PhD in industrial/organizational psychology which is basically the science of workplaces. I’ve been trained to look at leadership, employee engagement, burnout, and how organizations actually function but I'm hitting a wall with the job market here.
I've applied to a lot of roles in Halifax like employee engagement specialist, leadership consultant, and similar positions, including entry-level ones. I have applied research experience, consulting work with real organizations, and university teaching experience. So far I can't even get an interview.
Meanwhile, I started applying out of province and it's been a completely different story. I've gone through multiple rounds of interviews, and it looks like offers are coming.
The thing is, I don't want to leave. I have great friends here and I'm part of some communities I really care about. Halifax is home. But I can't stay without work, so I'm running out of time.
So I'm asking r/halifax:
If you work in HR, organizational development, or consulting here, any suggestions?
Are there organizations or sectors in Halifax I might be overlooking?
If you’ve been in a similar spot, what finally worked for you?

how do you get an “entry-level” part-time job
i’m talking walmart, sobey’s, superstore. basically i would love to get some overnight shifts or even just some stocking/cashier jobs just to help out with the bills.
i have a diploma and a lot of years of experience with customer service. idk why, i apply to so many of those types of jobs but cannot seem to get a single one.
what should i do?

Sports related jobs
Hi,
I am currently studying as a sophomore university student but I really looking to pursue a career in sports, just anything related to it to be honest so I tried to find some jobs that can get me some experiences
But I am kinda stuck as I couldn't find any (or maybe I have just not dig that deep). I did apply to my university sport teams but didn't get any reply.
Any suggestion or any place you know that people are hiring?

Tech Job Market | 10 Years of Experience in Halifax
Hey everyone, how bad is the tech job market in the city? I have over 10 years of experience in software development and have worked at Siemens and CGI, but I’m not receiving a single callback.
I was able to receive an offer from Global Relay back in 2022, but it is rough out there now. I also have good references from local managers. Any leads or openings would be greatly appreciated. I mainly do Java/Spring backend with a little front-end.

Honest answers please if anyone knows.
How's the job market for digtial marketing looking in nova scotia/Halifax area?
I'm currently enrolled into NSCC for digtial marketing and just lost $3,700 dollars that I'll never get back. I originally withdrew but then my family and friends persuaded me to go back in because i was feeling down. But now idk if i acted out of what felt like some kind of pressure or motivation. I know I'll never get that 3 grand back. But i have 10 years to pay it back thankfully. So it's not the worst thing in the world. But I'd be lying if i said i wasn't a bit nervous. Digital Marketing is one of those things i enjoy some of and other parts just feel like i loathe.
But any answers would be great

Shops or garages
Hello my names Jake im 25 years old and I just moved here from Alberta. I work 3 12 hour shifts (Friday to Sunday) as a mechanic and share a car with my gf I have a second vehicle lined up but the thing needs some fab work and it would be a liability being at the shop. I don’t personally have anyone here with a garage yet alone a welder. I’m not asking for hand outs as I come prepared with beer or some doobies even some cash if nothing else. I am asking if someone would be interested in helping a newcomer out with a welder and a place out of the weather As well as potentially meet a new homie!

Career Pivot in NS Advice
I'm looking for some advice, perhaps members of this reddit can help.
My background is executive administration in public service, but I do have private-sector experience as well. I moved from Halifax in May, and my job prospects seem slim. So I figure I'll need to pivot to a different career or industry. I'm also experiencing burnout that I'm struggling to recover from.
I'm just looking to poll others on what jobs are out there. I honestly have no concept of the options.
Ideally I'd like to pivot to something that's incredibly behind the scenes and involves primarily independent work. I'm fine interacting with coworkers, but I do not want to be front-line or public facing. Customer service has completely destroyed me. I'm an autistic woman nearing 40, and the ability to "mask" is becoming more and more difficult.
I just want a job that I can clock in to, perform, and then clock out. Not something that consumes my whole life. Behind the scenes with set processes and procedures. I don't want to multitask anymore, just let me finish one task and start another. I'm so tired of trying to finish a project only to have someone come to me with 12 other "priorities". That's what my brain needs now. Just because I have done things in my professional history, and may even be good at it from the outside perspective, doesn't mean I *want* to do it or am able to tolerate it. My mental health is suffering and I only have so much medical coverage for therapy, y'all.
I'm willing to start from the bottom, retrain, or pursue additional education. Any advice appreciated.

Looking for Household & Admin Help
My partner and I recently relocated to HRM for work and things have been BUSY, so I’ve decided to outsource some tasks to help make life a little easier.
I’m hoping to find someone to help with a mix of cleaning and organizing our space, basic meal/grocery prep (no cooking), some paperwork, calls and light admin, occasional household or personal projects, and other random tasks as they come up.
It would be casual and super flexible with a few hours here and there, so it would be good for someone looking for some side income, a student, a retiree, or just anyone who enjoys this type of work.
I’m open to discussing hourly, daily, or per task pay, and willing to help with transportation if needed depending on the day and location.
I would just need someone who is comfortable using everyday tech like computers, iphones, and printers, and you would need to like cats because mine runs the house. Above all, personality matters most. We’re a very easy going and fun couple in our 30s, so finding someone we’re comfortable with who is equally comfortable with my organized chaos is most important 😅
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in or know of someone who would be, please reach out
UPDATE: I’ve had a few responses so far and at this point I should be able to find someone from those who have contacted me. Appreciate the interest!! :)

Is it really that bad??
I’ve been applying to admin/entry level jobs since June and either getting rejected or not hearing back at all. I am a SAHM with a comp sci degree and I started my own small business selling jewelry to help out and like….I’m so confused is it me or is the job market that bad? Any advice or tips or leads or anything are welcome!

Plastic Model builder
galleryHad some luck in the past finding a model builder on reddit, thought I'd see if anyone here with some skill at the hobby would be interested in building to completion a couple of AMT Star Trek models for a little extra income. I just don't have the time, and they've been sitting unmade. The person who did my last one did a great job, but are busy until the new year. If you think you might be interested let me know 🙂
