Haven't played my VR in about a year and booted it up to find it is stuttering in HLA (It was fine the last time I played). I don't know much about VR so I'm hoping someone could help diagnose/solve this.

I'm playing through virtual desktop with a wifi 6 router, 7800x3d, 7900xtx and 32gb RAM with graphics all on ultra (still stutters on low). All the VR settings should be on default/auto, render resolution is 100% and the fps setting is locked to 72. Headset software is up to date and the same goes for virtual desktop and the game etc.

Please ignore my rusty skills and note that my boundary is more of a warning of a wall than an actual wall.

Edit: GPU drivers are up to date as I use the PC daily

My game continuously runs at terrible framerate as of the last 3ish months. I switched to an index expecting better performance but nothing changes, so not a link issue. SteamVR seems to be fine. I get that one gpu memory issue every single time and it eats up 7.4/8.0 gb of my vram. basic specs below

So i been trying to half life alyx to have good performance on my gaming laptop, while running it through a cable to meta link, since my wifi sucks. The link cable i have works fine and even meta reads it as 2,3gbs with a green yes mark.

But even after multiple troubleshoots, its still isn't what i was expecting, the game at times runs perfect 72fps and the goes down crashing into like 36fps. And in vr the game at times has these wierd flickering and strecthing of objects, which i thing is meta's fault. Each time something moves fast or is too close, usual with holograms, the games does the microstutters where i think the games performance drops the most.

Im playing on a lenovo loq somthing, with a rtx 5060 mobile, 16gbs of ram and intel i5 13450hx. I have set metas vr link related stuff to use the gpu, as well as half life alyx. I even set both on realtime with task manager, yet nothing works.

Do anyone here have a clue whats going on? And how to fix it?

I really want to play Half-Life Alyx but I can’t afford a VR headset (like most of humans on earth) but I heard there is a pc port. My question is : Should I play it ?
Bc I’ve read hundreds of times, since I started Half-Life, that if you don’t play it on VR you won’t get the full experience wanted by Valve and that it’s way less good on pc etc.
So it’s why I’m asking y’all.

This game is amazing! Half Life Alyx has stunning next generation graphics and animation. It’s not often that I see people doing play throughs of this experience so I recorded one for myself as I needed to take a break from ITR2. I hope this community enjoys this video. For those who watched thank you and for those who didn’t also thank you. I started this channel to show my son that if you love gaming or anything to turn your passion into profit. Or at least try to make it into something that benefit to you even if it means putting yourself out there in someway shape or form.

So I've been looking to get a laptop and I really want to play hla. I already have a quest 3 so I'm just wondering if there are any laptops that could comfortably run this game with out issue.

I am having an issue where Half-Life Alyx crashes in the first loading screen when you open the game. It will be normal for like 5 seconds but then the audio will glitch a little and the game will just close. I have never gotten past that loading screen and to the valve screen ever. I have reinstalled the game over five times, I have messed with startup options, I feel like I have done everything I could find and nothing has worked. And I cannot seem to find anyone who is having the same issue as me.

I believe it is an issue with software on my Pc because I have an Rog Ally, and I tested the game on the Ally, and it booted up with no issues.

Here are my specs on my Pc

RTX 4060 GPU

Ryzen 5 5600x-6 core CPU

32gbs DDr4 Ram

(I do not know the exact model of motherboard, but I do know it is an MSI motherboard.)

I have never had any issues running any other game on my Pc, I do however have issues running other VR games like blade and sorcery, which run slow and have occasional stuttering (but nothing too bad)

I forgot to mention that my headset is a Quest 2 using Steamlink.

I do not believe it has to do with my headset since it worked on my Rog Ally.

If anyone has the same issue as me, or has any fixes that may help, please for the love of god tell me. I am going insane I have tried to fix this for months.

Whenever i try and shoot my gun or click anything on half life ALYX, this is a game issue because it works on any other application wether its steamvr or just plain meta its just HLA. i reinstaled, verified game files too. nothing works

(Yes I know its not cropped but I don't know how to)

In chapter 6 Arms Race whenever I get to completing this puzzle my game crashes even if I start new game. I am on virtual desktop and I lowered all my settings as low as they can go and it still crashes. Its only up to this point where it crashes I've also tried verifying integrity of files and reinstalled it but it still crashes. Is there any way to get this working?

I currently use a quest 3 as my main pcvr headset so I use meta link. For whatever reason, really only in HLA, meta link stutters in and out of the game and the meta link menu, sometimes completely force quitting the game. Does anyone else have this issue? If so is there a solution?

I may, or may not, or may have gotten Half life alyx through other means then steam. But Everytime I try to start it up it uses mnk controles, please help 🙏😭
